Actually you are both right. Abby Normal was originally owned by Jeff gale from Abaco, who kept it in Fla. We raced it for many years in KWRW, BIRW, RTIA, CORT, and many local regattas. Jeff sold the boat to R. Hobbs in Tampa who proceeded to clean up the local racing circuit. The boat is now in La. named Nitemare.
The B32 is the best all around racing boat ever built. We won KW, took 3rd at Rolex St, Thomas, 2nd by an inch at BIRW, and cleaned up RTIA about 6 times. We also delivered the boat on her own bottom to USVI and back in hellacious weather, something I am glad we did and will never consider doing again.
We modified the boat to be more competitive against the Hendersons by adding a penalty pole (10% I think), and masthead spinnakers. That took the rating from 69phrf to 63phrf, and was worth every second twice over. I know it's RLC/phrf rating in Tampa was 51 and Hobbs still had BOTY series wrapped up when he sold it. The boat is stunningly fast. Our best speed in 44kts of breeze with the frac. chute was 25.7 on the GPS and higher on the speedo.
I have raced dozens and dozens of boats all over the blue ball and have yet to like one more.

Something about another manufacturer taking over production and screwing it up. Some of the West Coast Homies probably could fill in on that.
L. Beiley is still out there somewhere.

Bailey has gone on to become a trusted mentor to the Editor here and often provides consul on subjects relating to people skills. (BTW, I haven't checked my sources).
Anyway the 32 is very cool and the 25 is a fantastic PHRF racer. There is one in Baltimore that took the Henderson idea of the drop down motor system and applied it to the B32. I think the boat is called Fish. I looked at Abby when it was in Stewart Fla a few years ago, either it wasn't the right boat or the right time for me.
Too bad they folded. Boat building is alot like bands: Lots of good one's out there but few seem to suceed.
Having looked at many boats, including the Heni and the B, Mumm was the way to go for me. They have a great support group.

What do they usually sell for (range)?
Would it make a good short handed Pac Cup/Tranny boat?
In the 55ish range, you are right there with a Mumm 30 - which would you chose?
Is there any other web info?
Thanks

I think slightly over a dozen or so.
40ish and up.
Not really without mods and they really like crew weight.
Mumm for one design, B for anything else.
Don't know about info anywhere.

What's your take on the Henderson between those two? More of a one design as well? More or less crew weight on the Hendo?
In PHRF: You said you needed to mod it to compete against the Hendersons but, would it have been a threat to the Mumm 36?

The Hendo is slightly faster uphill and much faster offwind. The only time we raced a bunch of them we beat 5 out of 6 of them in a series (then got dsq'd with an OCS in the last race).
The Hendo loves crew weight as well - I think they are about the same with the B having better hull form stability and the Hendo a lower/heavier CG.
I don't recall racing a Mumm 36 specifically. The major threats to us were fast boats that rated around 100 phrf like the Evilyn 32, Hobie 33, etc. Racing against a Mumm 30 was usually a good match.
A friend who raced the boat several times dubbed it the "bargain basement giant killer" after whoopin' a few 50 footers and maxis in St Thomas.

Was that 'Abbey' against the 'Wall' in TB? Any scoop on whether the B will be coming back to this area? I would love to see the team the Mumm put together race against the B.

I don't recall the Wall (Mumm 36) racing against Abby - I probably would have been on one or the other, but I could be wrong.
I think the only way Abby will come back is if I sell Alinghi a set of Ultras.
