Get in touch with Southampton Institute UK Warsash .Ask for the composites workshops .Ask about the Musto ,and they will put you onto the designer and builder who I think then was sailing Skiffs. He use to work there in maths.

? The Musto Skiff's designer is German Contender sailor Joachim Haaprecht, in conjunction with Devoti. Has he moved to Southampton?

A guy had one when the 14s were at the gorge last month, I talked to him for a bit but never got his name. Not certain where he was from, but I think he is importing them into the US.

Or talk to me, I'll put you in touch.

It looks like a nice ride... if you're not in the USA since there are none here. I wish there were some fleets arounds...

Feel like going sailing, rig it and go. Feel like racing, uhh, well... feel like going sailing rig it and go!

Ron has 3 in Seattle, WA right now.

I'm on the east Coast US. Looking for something that goes fast, needs no gas, and can be sailed by 1....... Anyone else interested in forming a fleet in the NE US?

RS 700, Swift Solo, A-class catamaran. Go for the A-class.

I sail what may be the closest thing to a production A Class (except for As themselves) and it seems that it's so different to a skiff type in feel and every other way that you just can't compare them. It's like comparing a Ferrari to a Superbike.

not comparing, but it meets the criteria.

no fuel
goes fast
sailed by one.

meets all criteria as well as, if not better than the skiffs!

Sure, just saying the A is a very different sort of boat and therefore hard to compare.

Thanks for that Dumbass, now I feel free to start the sales spiel....

International Canoe

Fleet in the NE? - Yep. The fleet includes 2 time world champ Steve Clark, so the standard is good.

No gas power? Yep.

Sailed by 1? Yep.

Fast? Yep. With the spinnaker (AC) it's rated by the Brits as faster than the Musto IIRC. The RS700 is rated faster yet but AIUI it that's inspired by the builder who wants to make the boat seem fast.

Even without the kite it's a quick boat, and the best boat upwind I've ever sailed (with the possible exception of the Bethwaite HSP).

Theres about a dozen Mustos racing at our club - haven't got around for my test sail yet but they look a blast!

Build quality looks excellent and every thing about them just looks performance orientated - if you want a performance single hander I would look no further!

Plus watching beginners trying to tack in light airs is hilarious!

What is the competitive weight range in the Musto, A cat, IC?

What's the cost of an A class? The Musto Skiff is advertised at 14K US with sails, dolly & cover. Seems like good bang for the buck. And if I was looking for just pure speed, I'd have to buy a foiling Moth anyways!!!

The must Skiff is quicker than the Moth in the huge majority of conditions - I'll give you that the moth is probably far more scarry in the huge majority of conditions :o

Where are you-
I have A Class and ICs. I can hook you up.
No Musto Skiffs, but some one off stuff that is pretty much like that.

Musto's look good,,but the swift solo's look to have better prospects of fleetbuilding in NA,and had their first midwinters in Fla this spring.

I guess there's a dealer in US now. Some cat in the Pac NW so probably the fleet'll grow most there. Sailing WOrld had an article on last issue so it's getting some pub. Dude if you want to buy one then do it. The other guys are givening you good suggestions but it's your money plus all those boats are fast enough to put a permanent grin on your face.

I sailed one and thought it was just about perfect. Really fast, no bad manners, really well thunk out. They went deluxe in every detail.
That said, having sailed an A Cat as well, I'd get an A. The Musto is more fun downwind, but an A Cat is the most perfect upwind experience you can have, and there are fleets you can sail with.

If you are fit enough to consider a Musto Skiff, you are fit enough for an A.
