After apparently the coldest night ever recorded in Perth (-0.7c (31F) degrees when driving to the boat) we went "Frostbiting" in the first of or Winter Offshore races from Fremantle. Max Temp was 20 degrees (68F) by 2pm.

15 knots max over the deck for the entire day.

Not a bad way to spend a winters day, wouldn't you say?

Hope all the other Anarchists out there had a good day (and I know there were a few of you out there!)

cheers

Hottest boats here, probably Ausmaid. Consistent performer. Watch out for her in this years Hobart.

Half sister 97 is also over here, but sitting out this series. 97 won last summers "Siska Trophy" for the best performing boat in the long offshore races.

I sail on Hi Flyer. One of Prydies old girls, still gives the fleet a tickle when we get our act together.

We have a fleet of 4 or 5 Inglis 47's, rare these days to get them all out on the line at the same time though these days.

"Walk on the Wildside" is another Inglis, but the 57' variety. before Ausmaid showed up she way pretty much always odds on favourite for Linehonours, and in a heavy air downhill ride hard to beat on handicap.

Syrenka is always around, she is a 57 - 60 footer built of ally. Uses the rig from a 12m or so I am told.

We have 3 Mumm 30's, 2 new ones frm DK and a 2nd hand boat that came from South America. Hard to beat in the light (sailed around us yesterday!). Sometimes we arelucky enough to get all 3 on a startline.

A Farr 40 OD just joined the fleet, sailed well yesterday.

A crowd favourite are the couple of S97's that come out and do well in Div 1. These boats always tend to give everyone a scare a couple of times a year.

We had 30 starters yesterday, and the above covers some of them. Fleet ranges from Ausmaid to SS34's and all in between, including IOR Farr 36's and 40's, whitings, etc.

Cheers

SW

Say what?!?! You trolling me SW? :P

Justlaid brings it in anything 0-12, 12-18 is a race, we still serve it in anything 18+ and when did we ever win anything on handicap? Justlaid is the probably the best all conditions performer though <_<.

There's about to be a new kid on the block though, Chris' new toy sounds interesting...

You work out who I was yet? Was that you sorting out positions pre-race? Lucretia was on the end of your jetty, I was running around with a thermal top + t-shirt on (fark it was cold).

Was that you running 3rd with the big boys coming off the windmills? How'd you land?

Rgds,

:D ....just went through results, and you are right, wildside hasn't placed on Handicap in a while! Photo from yesterday below though.

3rd at windmills was Southern Star i think... we were another couple of boats back (after wild one and then expresso snuck in on the way to campbell).

Yeah I was the one organising everyone... Drop by next race and I'll give you the "tour".

Whats your understanding on Chris' new toy, have heard a couple of different stories so far.

cheers

Eww, show her with all the old kit up! Garth is just doing it to get the pen and lift at FSC; definately going twin rudders, possible bow sprit, possible extension.

Cool, was suprised Lukewarm Latte didn't do better, it's was a mothers day. Shame the other M30's didn't come play; I don't think the Latte boys have ever sailed to potential (although same could prolly be said of Windows).

I feel stupid going "Oi, who's Seaway!" :) Was running late in the morning and didn't see any of you boys in the bar. You interested in doing FSC round the cans? We're losing a crew member back to Windows for the inshore, so short one if your interested.

He's picked up some pink swingy bits from Sydney and not the Kings Cross kind. Can't remember the name.

Expresso was sailed by the RPYC youth match racing team, first time on the boat as a group although a few have sailed on it before.

Sent you a PM with more accurate hailing information when you come visit and re the extra sailing.

Mods to wildside sound interesting, know who's doing the engineering / design work?

cheers

Don't know, I'm guessing our helmsman Max, he's a shipwright.
I just want her to sell; the replacement will be.... interesting. B)

jeezuz.. was 5th over the line not good enough for ya! We rounded the last bottom mark in front of the farr 40 and the 57' Wildside. Not bad for a little boat.

We had the RPYC youth team with bob's son on the helm, plus one old man (me) which is hard to say when you're only 29. We had to reround at the start after a getting pushed over the line - bloody embarasing for a bunch of matchracers, but got through the fleet ok, overtaking seaway when they went for a picnic on the right! His brother had a good laugh at that!

The boys on the 40 need to look at their lightwind kite and main trim. A bit choked up from our view. Nice boat tho...

Red fever isn't coming down for the winter this year as owners in Italy, but doing another Gero is still on the cards.

Just on that... did you think that their weight placement uphill (around red B when the fade started and we got out our sandwiches and lemonade in the "far right carpark") was a little too aft, looked to me like they were not generating all the WL they could have (bow knuckle out of water?). First crew on the leeward rail must have been about 2m behind the stays whe I was looking at her.

Great to keep this thread rolling, Anonymous WA Anarchists are slowly being outed... me included!!

Roll on July 1st for another crack!

Below a photo of "Lukewarm Latte" (love it!!) ghosting around us....

cheers

You local Recidivist? I thought you were Darwin boy? Although Garth does spend some time up there? If she sells there will be a season off and then a probably something new. As for Windows having a season off certainly not 06/07 unless she sold.

All the locals are coming out!!!

Should be killing Windows in the light stuff :P :D As I said I just don't feel the boat has been sailed to potential but the same could be said of my boat. You're not going to sail it to potential on a couple sails on it, I thought it was regular crew.

They going to do the return this year? Bet they were kicking themselves after the conditions on the way home last year.

SW, you never responded to my crew offer :P If any other WASA'ers want a sail in Freo inshore let me know.

Good to see Mild One is still managing to hold onto the slowest inglis 47 ever trophy.

The rumour I heard about the new toy on the way is Living Doll but i wouldnt believe anything until it actually arrives.

Watch the farr 40 closely.
Its still running the standard rig but all that is about to change.
The masthead a-sails are on the way.

I thought Avela faired pretty well for their first offshore race.
It doesnt exactly have a tall rig and is fitted out rather well inside.

Shattered Glass! Where have you guys been hiding? Haven't seen you offshore for a while...

Living Doll was the rumour I heard as well, as I said pink swingy bits, just couldn't remember what it was called :)

Mild One has problems before leaving the dock, love those liferafts on the back. Inlgis' aren't exactly light weather boats to start with and sinking the ass just makes it worse.

I was in shock at the purple pussies coming out, thought they were alergic to salt water; been picking on their deckie about that for a while. They had Eldrid onboard apparenly. Would be good to see them out more cause it'd make a good offshore boat.

Watch this space.
The multi-coloured booze bus will be back in the water by christmas and sporting some new toys....
With a couple of months of tuning and training we will be back at the front of the pack for winter series next year.

Mild One must have every sail known to man onboard and still cant meet their target speeds on any point of sail.
Its a shame to see such a nice boat in the hands of a crew that really cant put a whole race together.

It was only the third time the purple people eater had been out of the river.
Its a nice boat but Frank doesnt seem to know what he wants to do with it.

Which one? I sailed with Wildbull for a race a couple years back.

Purple Pussies/People Eater = Avela; that fancy purple thing, first boat on the dock last year that wasn't racing.
Windows = Walk on the Wildside; big bitch Inglis 57 didn't move last year except for the night race, scared the shit out of WildBull last year when we hooked their runner on our bow.
Justlaid = Ausmaid; the slightly smaller big bitch with a coffee grinder, very slick operation, had a field day last year.
Lukewarm Latte = Expresso; Mumm 30 that's been down at the last two regatta weeks (don't think fever was there last year)
Mild One = Wild One; Inglis 47, all white, twin life rafts in the sugar scoop
Shattered Glass = Wildthing; extended (broken) Diamond with the offensive paint job as per Sandgroper's logo. :P

I think that's all of them :)
