SA Audio

Ullman Speaks

Our second SA AudioCast was yesterday with Dave Ullman. If you know Dave, then you know what a good guy he is, and if you don't, you'll see, or rather hear it here. This one is fairly long, 30 minutes, and yet it doesn't cover nearly enough ground! We'll probably continue to do these in long form, but offer them in segments. We'd like to hear your comments on this one.

Very nicely done Mr Scot.
I thought it showed what Dave is truly like.
Cool, fun, humble and not at all unapproachable.
Dave really hits it on the nail with his comments on practice and new sails.

Maybe you could do another with:
Juan K?
ABN Skipper Sanderson?

Sailed against Dave last weekend. Dave is a great guy and awesome sailor. It was an excellent interview worth listening the whole way through. Wish there were more sailors like him.

Cheers!

Podcast instructions for newbies to get the sailing mustached Yoda onto your ipod....

right click the link to the file on the SA site.

click save file as or save link location as......

name it and save where you like on your system. The ullman interview is 28megs, this may take a while, the ed should work on cutting it down.....

Now you can listen on whatever media you like....................

Open itunes.com

Go on library than click file on upper left side of itunes and then in the drop down click add to library

Once the mp3 is in your library, you can right click it and add it to a playlist that goes to your ipod.

What i did in itunes, is creat a playlist called "sailing Podcasts".

Hook up your ipod. When the icon in Itunes shows up, right click, click options, and make sure that Sailing Podcasts" is checked for updating....this will send whatever sailing podcasts you have in that playlist.....

Enjoy!

Ed, man you're 2 for 2. This was as good as the last one. Two per month - can you keep it up? Thanks again for the effort. Ullman seemed as classy as I expected.

Dave Ullman is in a class all by himself. He spent 25 minutes with me at Key West answering alot of my questions regarding sail trim and what makes the Melges go. No one else would have taken the time to do this.

I hate to give the Ed credit for a job well done, his head is way to big already, but well done Ed!

Well thanks. I know a thing or two about entertaining content. Again, I'd like suggestions on who I should interview next.

Ed - Great stuff. The format has legs. We need more, more, more...

Additionally it would be amazing to get a debrief interview with Americans George Peet and/or Andrew Lewis from ABN II. I am sure many on SA would be interested to hear the reflections of these two amazing young sailors after a race where they experienced both the highest highs and lowest lows.

Loved the Mike Sanderson suggestion above too but would love to hear from Peet/Lewis first.

To stir the pot a little would be good to have "Screaming Dee Smith" do an interview. He has been around the block more than a few times and could give out some good info. It would be interesting to hear his point view on technical subjects, pro sailing and future of TP52 & the new GP class and find out if he's really the total dick everyone says he is.

Others:

Buddy Melges, he's a living legend and a great speaker

Dennis connor (edit: maybe not)

Bouwe Bekking on Movistar

Ed Baird on coaching and what sailors should work on.

Stan Honey on weather routing.

Olin Stephens: another living legend that would be great to listen to.

I've told the Ed that I have one with Bouwe from Baltimore that was OK although I sound like a flaming moron. It's interesting how the interview plays into what happened to them later.

I'll get it to him one of these days...

I agree on keeping the clips long. It is great to get into it. Little soundbites would be a real pain. Gotta say, I'd love to hear an interview with Mr. Alphabet on his crazy designs. Roy Disney on the Morning Light project would be some quality content as well.
