Trump made the remark after Bill Bryan, a Department of Homeland Security official who leads the department's Science and Technology division gave a presentation on research his team has conducted that shows the virus does not live as long in warmer and more humid temperatures. Bryan said, “the virus dies quickest in sunlight," leaving Trump to wonder whether you could bring the light "inside the body." “So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just a very powerful light — and I think you said that hasn’t been checked because of the testing," Trump said, speaking to Bryan during the briefing. "And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or some other way and I think you said you’re going to test that too." He added, "I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning. As you see it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that." It is hard to believe that this dude has the brains to tie his fucking shoelaces...Maybe he wears slip-ons.

Well, actually Trump is right. If you inject detergent into people's veins they will certainly not die of Covid 19.

I don't usually watch the talking heads on TV, but I did happen to catch the Cheeto-In-Chief at the infamous CDC briefing. It was stunning. It's one thing to read about it, but to actually see the babbling moron in action and think that THIS is the President of the USA is a shock. "Idiocracy" was far too optimistic.

Borrowed a Hobi Cat to do the famous Ski to Sea race in Bellingham WA many many years ago. Nice people offered a boat but asked if they could make a little presentation to me. They were noobs but as a salesman/sailmaker I was hip the the trip. After about 45 minutes I asked them what product they were selling? After the BS Amway presentation I said that if you expect to be successful at sales you should be proud of your product and not the pyramid scheme behind it. Got the boat, our team won the race and set a course record that was not bettered for many years. Amway, what a crock of shit!

Back in the day, say 1993-4, I was at a Finance all-hands for Intel. We were talking about yields on chips. Exciting stuff, not. There was a factory VP on stage, he had a 6" wafer, with x486s etched on them, but for some reason, lost that wafer (bad). His words. "Here's a brand-new corvette." (Yes, the average yield on a 486 wafer was around $60k net to Intel) Then, he had the normal tray used in the factory, this thing is about 12-14" long, holds like 50 of these wafers. Also dead. His words "and here's a parking lot of corvettes" Auto-analogies work really well!

It changes from week to week... Recently, though, I've been quite taken with some of the European aluminum sailboats for high latitude cruising. Key features I like: the no-nonsense look of the unpainted aluminum hulls and decks, pilothouses or well thought out hard dodgers, and very protected cockpits. Boats like the Boreal 44, or the Dijkstra designed series of Bestevaers from K&M yachts, fit the bill. My current favorite, though, is Dick Zaal's FAN FAN. She''s an older design, but she's fast, big enough to be comfortable while still being easy to sail short handed, and ruggedly good looking. She has completed the 2009 OSTAR (3rd place, fasted daily run of the fleet at 216 nautical miles), and been sailed around the world by Uwe Röttgering. But I'm definitely someone who dreams more about Chilean or Icelandic fjords than tropical islands.

The 2nd wave is going to suck. And I believe that. But I'll keep saying over and over just so I'm wrong and the elk can throw it in my face later.

It's the authoritarian thing to do - and also that CDC guy who had the stones yesterday to contradict Der Fuhrer on live TV. Why would Fauci fare any better than the Vindman's and so many others ?

Yes but... there is in fact a line to be crossed, where speech is deliberately harmful to others. The classic example is shouting "FIRE!" in a crowded theater. People expressing their political views is one thing. People advocating murder is another. People marching around with guns egging each other on to treason and murder is definitely over the line, and just because you drive the same brand of car as them is not a reason to say "they're not all that bad." This country is currently putting brown children in cages, remember. We're already WAY too far down that road. Nazi speaking their political views are inciting murder. The fact that it's my family and friends that they want to murder makes it justifiable self-defense, to me. It's not a matter of " free speech." You can say an almost infinite variety of things. If you can't speak your "political views" without inciting treason or murder, that's not the fault of the rest of society - DSK

If you ever sailed a boat that actually has ergonomics not designed by the Spanish Inquisition, you'll never go back. Close to 30 years ago, I bought a Johnson 18 to sail with my wife. Getting a third crew for our Lighting was somewhat problematic. The new boat was so comfy, full hiking, and so easy to keep control of, while planing a LOT faster, that I lost interest in boats that hurt you. I've sailed a Thistle a bunch of times (including since then) and can honestly say, I will never again. For one thing, my knees have gotten bad enough I can't. I can sail a Buccaneer just fine but can't squat in a Sunfish, either. Fortunately my friend sold his J-24, that was the last pain box I ever spent much time on. A couple years ago I also trialed a VX-1. That is a generation advanced above the Jn-18. Back in the old days, you were supposed to suffer. Nowadays I don't see the point in sailing boats that make you feel like you've been beaten with a 2x4 -FB- Doug

i've found that a bungee cord and rope works better and faster than any of the purchased tiller tamers or tiller clutches. And it's much cheaper too! You can see a video of it here:
