Not a pretty mental picture. I am sure the Rod designed in some heat so I do not think it would be cavernous, damp, cold and miserable aboard.

Because he watched "Captain Ron" way too many times? Now now, there is no need to sully Captain Ron's name by connecting it to the FH..

Dude, are you on one of those boats stuck up in the Northwest Passage? If you can thaw out your fingers a bit more and give us some coords we may be able to send some help..

It almost sounds like it was more about the building and less about the sailing. Honestly, you could get a 30ish monohull for a few grand, spend a year or two fixing her up and then go. I just started on the path myself and just aquiring the knowledge and skills to do that trip is going to take some years, add to it designing and building the boat on a budget and I am impressed you made it this far. Maybe someone with a SeaTow or TowboatUS account can help u get her to the delta and give you more time. Fair winds.

Seamanship HR. It is not only the ability to handle sail and splice rope, it is also the ability to make decisions that help you avoid danger and keep yourself safe. Sign up for TowboatUS, it about $190 last I checked, do it online at the library, after it goes into affect try to sail that beast toward the delta (scope out were you want it parked and mark it on your nav aid first.) After you fail to make it to the delta (example- ride the tide out toward the gate) call for a tow and have it taken to safety. When I first purchased it I was nervous taking my boat out without tow insurance and it had a working outboard.

How 'bout Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn reuniting for a TV Miniseries? Betty White plays the elderly, quick-witted Mother. Jean Claude Van-Damme as The Viking, who runs a repo business/pawn shop/underground grow op on the side. Van-Damme is marginal as long as you keep Stallone as far from the show as possible.

The hatchet is the perfect tool. Just tow her to deep water, swing the hatchet a few times and all your problems are solved save for a bit of swimming.

Mizzen, I hear that you can use the mizzen to balance the helm.

Great photos. HR, Have you given any thought to doing away with the masts at together. You could put on 2 big Chinese Diesel outboards and install some fuel bladders. Or you could put a ford marine diesel in each hull, those can be had fairly cheap reconditioned. The FH woul make a nice power cat.

They should sell little cards with woodscrews on them. " $5 for a FH commemorative woodscrew." They could use the proceeds to help fund their expedition.

Well, I thought I would see what I could find out about plywood boats. As I really dig history I looked up the old WW2 PT boats. Sadly they are in fact not plywood but 2 layers of Mahogany planks with glue and canvas between. Frames appeared to be spaced 12" or so. http://www.pt103.com/PT_Boat_Components_Hull.html

Does anyone have any idea about the rig dimensions on the FH? Maybe donated sails can be found. I know I have 2 spare mains in my vberth but baulk at paying shipping or even putting in the effort to box them for shipping but....... We could lay a grid over a picture of the rig that includes HR and use his height measurement from his booking to get the dimensions.

I just spent a few minutes looking at the map and comparing it with the flag at Marina Bay. I was thinking about what points of sail HR could try. Then I came to a conclusion it was an utter waste of time to think about HR sailing. I myself am a bit jealous as I would really love to be sailing at the moment.
