      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

A bit presumptuous of Jimmy to call himself unstoppable, before the match... Jimmy Spithill had to change the name of his biography http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11890990

Great work! I remember seeing that tack and thinking something looked wrong with it, but quickly forgot in the excitement...

That article also picks up on the Clean story of Slingsby being on the helm this time, but Jimmy getting Larry to overrule the decision: "De Nora thinks the tense relationship between Jimmy Spithill and tactician Tom Slingsby worked against Oracle, causing tension on the boat. Slingsby, a 2012 Olympic gold medallist and world champion sailor was originally going to be at the helm, he says. "Spithill took Slingsby's job by going directly to the boss (Larry Ellison), and yet they still had to work together. " As a result the relationship didn't work, evident in Slingsby's reaction as Spithill made mistakes. "You can see it in TV footage where Slingsby is hammering the boat with his fist and getting angry."

French America's Cup team refused to help Team New Zealand This was interesting, revealing that when ETNZ asked for help, apart from BAR, no-one came... They really were lone wolf... http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11885899

Yip, neither did Larry. All that $$$ sunk, and not even a second place medal!
  12. I guess I am thankful they weren't burning or pissing on them... although we didn't see what happened next... I was going to dismiss this as a few dicks going rogue, but it's starting to look like systematically poor sportsmanship from the hosts...

Did anyone report what Ashby was up to playing with the wing half way through the race today?

So we know the redress rules for damage to another boat, what about redress if the crew are injured in a collision by another boat, and can't continue to race / can't race for the next day / week / forever (fatality)?
  15. Live Racing Thread

Man, the potential for injury in the SBTJ / BAR crash was huge. See the TJ wing trimmer get smacked across the hull. Potential damage to BAR's main foil?
