    Hervey Bay A Class Worlds

Wind no better today, seas have risen, add rain and hangover. Wind limits are irrelevant if the support craft cannot launch, which is the case here with no beach and waves pounding the seawall. The chief inspection officer can retire to the Anchorage....or is that where he woke up?

So, two different courses, two different beers. If I have a foiler and drink a classic beer, does this make me flop? ...and i thought it was the rake adjustment.

A Class Worlds - Classic Division

Dougy the Gun! Theres a name not heard on MA for a while DtG last seen in embryonic stages of dominating short fat A Class, and cross training in Australias Ninja Warrior. Both stepping stones to taking on the Classic division. With such a rich pedigree in A Class we all thought he was the next Gashby. Alas...

Before there was foiling, we had skimming. Skimming was disruptive too. So was trapezing downhill and the wildthing. Bring back the good old classic days with reaches, runs and nosedives.

DNA A Class Catamaran Classic conversion

SS, there were 2 different radius and lengths on DNA C boards. Both had success. My take was the shorter more curved boards were better for skimming. Havent got measurements sorry. I reckon your proposed solution of shortening your boards to measure in 0.75 is fine. You could even move top plate outboard a little and shorten more. That should give more horizontal and therefore more lift. Have fun!

On rake, the original C slider had about 12mm travel. The J boards use heaps more rake to create lift to fly. You wont need the full travel to get skimming. Too much rake in windy the c will lift out and step sid3ways. Exciting but slow. Beware that at zero rake in windy the boat can trip even with winglets. Have fun

The original C boards entered and exited through the hull centreline. The j boards may have changed this. If you use the converted cases check your tips dont go closer than 0.75m from platform centreline.

Scotty refitted C boards into J2 slots. Not ideal but Scott made it work. He went wild rather than trapezed. He also used a DS with wishbone boom hung from central gooseneck. He explains side hung booms overstress masts pushing out of column in the region with downhaul adding compression.

Glenn was more than 50% faster most of that race. He couuld foil 80% of the race when most floated 100%. Stevie marinally less on foils. Awexsome to watch
