      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. VOR '17-'18 - THE GAME

I'm making my push west (which is probably a fruitless endeavour), as I see my last lane of breeze before I'm completely mired. I may be completely wrong, and may have dug too deep into the coast. Here's to taking a chance and trying to consolidate on you westerly bunch.
  2. VOR '17-'18 - THE GAME

I'm just **north** of that and down #394 overall. **CRAP!** COME ON ZEZO!! Route me to victory!!! I'm screwed **Yes I know ranking is based off of DtF, and I'm just lucky I'm near the rhumb line***
  3. VOR '17-'18 - THE GAME

I'm not sure how long this will last, but I'm in top 1000 at the moment. Gonna play the inshore game for a bit.
  4. VOR '17-'18 - THE GAME

FARK! I had done a tack to finish and assumed that I had crossed the finish line on Saturday. Jokes on me. I ran aground 3 nm from the finish circle and dropped 26k positions! I hate that the damn iOS app is SHITE and won't work. I've un-installed and re-installed a few times and finally gave up, so I could only run via desktop.
  5. VOR '17-'18 - THE GAME

I'm in "Samsonite SA" Broke into the lower 5k's this morning, but had network issues at work and fell back to mid 6k's. Nice to see some members of S.A.Y.C up in the lead pack.
  6. US Watercraft goes to Auction!

Thanks jerseyguy! I'm going to see about having a representative for the program up there to look into these. Also if anyone knows of people looking to donate a J/22 or J/24 to worthwhile cause, please have them contact me at Valhalla Sailing Project (rob@valhallasailing.org) or on the Book. Cheers
  7. US Watercraft goes to Auction!

Valhalla Sailing Project could use some 22's, 24's or 80's. Anyone have any intel on if/how/what sailboats are up for grabs?
  8. NEEDED - J/22 for Adaptive Sailor - Annapolis, MD

EYC has 3 J22's that are not sailing in the frostbite series. I'm a member there but really have nothing to do with those boats. Suggest you contact Gavin OHare since he is the guy running that program. Cheers, Christian Thanks Christian! We're going to reach out to Gavin and Chadwick about gaining access to one of them. They're for the Match Racing Center, so there are some items that need to be worked through. One being that a EYC member has to be on the boat and at the moment, we have no one in our program who holds a membership. I'm certain we can make something happen! Cheers, Rob
  9. NEEDED - J/22 for Adaptive Sailor - Annapolis, MD

Not a problem d'ranger! Thanks for the help regardless! Hopefully we can make something happen and get Adam in a boat!
  10. NEEDED - J/22 for Adaptive Sailor - Annapolis, MD

Will, Thanks! I've joined the forum and was waiting for acceptance. I'll reach out to Chris today. Cheers, Rob
  11. Hello all, Our adaptive crew member, Adam Keys, is itching to get back out on the water and sail. We are urgently seeking access to a J/22 to borrow for the remaining Frostbite series, to get Adam out on the water, and racing. We have a modular adaptive rig that is built for a J/22 to help make that happen. Please keep in mind, this adaptive rig DOES NOT require any drilling into the deck of your boat. Just attach some lines and the rig is good to go. Very simple, easy in, easy out. Warrior Sailing Program and Valhalla Sailing Project, are working in conjunction to get Adam out on the water sailing and racing more. He has shown incredible natural talent and understanding on the water, and has impressed many of his instructors with the skills he has learned. As a result of his natural talent and skills gained from his Warrior Sailing training, Adam even received a scholarship from Lockheed Martin to help him further his sailing education and career. WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you, or anyone you know of, are interested and willing to assist us getting Adam a boat to sail on, we would be extremely grateful! Please let me know as soon as possible, as we would like to allow Adam to get out on the water, working to fine tune the adaptive rig and get some sail time in prior to racing starting up again! Best regards, Rob Sampson Marketing Director Valhalla Sailing Project rob@valhallasailing.org www.valhallasailing.org

  14. Sailing & Millennials that just don't get it.

That is EXACTLY how I got involved. I did commercial fishing and lobstering growing up, as well as spent all my time tooling around on my families 20' bowrider on the lakes of Maine. Sailboats got in my way while fishing and looked slower than shit! I moved down here to Annapolis and roommate had a J/24 and BEER. Asked if I wanted to go out on a Wednesday night and "race". 12-15kts of breeze and 6kts of boat speed felt FAST (well faster than drifting). From that point on, I've been addicted like a crack riddled monkey. Had the opportunity to sail on a Andrews 80 doing the A2N and Caribbean 600, as well as tons of Bay races. All it takes is once to get people out. I've been lucky in my opportunities and now am helping to run a non-profit organization focused on getting recovering, transitioning and wounded veterans and their families out sailing. Most of them are Army vets and have never stepped foot on a boat. We have 31 crew members who are now in the process of getting out and sailing on a regular basis. It's great to see people's perception of the sport change when they're out on the water and have the chance to helm. The biggest issue any of our crew have, is the time involved, but they're learning how to make time for to get out on the water. OP keep doing what you're doing. Those who want to keep showing up, will. Those who don't, will show up if you offer them beer or rum
