      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. I think you'll find that the fire was initiated by a disturbed person who had been invited to go for a sail but when his request to become the skipper on the same day was rejected he come back to the marina in the dead of night and with the help of some vigorous accelerants got a pretty good fire going. Understand he was last seen taking green pills every 4 hours in a protected environment.
  2. DD The following uplifted from Pittwater Coffs Race Site Race Record Holder: "Wild Oats" 18hr 29min 14sec (2003) Previous Race Records: "The Office" 20hr 56min 56sec (1984) Slowest race to Coffs Harbour: "Short Circuit" 62hr 33min 57sec (1982) Biggest Fleet: 108 yachts (1991) Smallest Fleet: 14 yachts (1981) Yacht with most outright wins: "Innkeeper", 3 (1988, 1992 & 1995) First race line honours (1981): "White Pointer" Acknowlege your point regarding the course variation in 2003 which actually made the course longer but because WO eclipsed The Office record by more than 2 hours it might be a moot point. One fact that can't be denied was that "The Office" / "Helsal III" / "Helsal in Bali" / "The Office" as she has been named was one hell of a boat and having skippered and crewed her over 15,000 miles of racing and passagemaking would add that she was way ahead of her time. Adams has always demonstrated an empathy with the fluid boundaries in this part of the planet and combined with the composite construction skills of McConaghy who built her, she was a delight to sail and race. With the recent upgrade work being done in Careening Cove would not be surprised to see her out there again mixing it with the current generation of quickies. I'll wager a bottle of Red Dot cordial that a new wardrobe of laminar fabric, carbon fibre spars, replacement of wire to rope halyards she would surpprise some of the multi million dollar brigade. Because she had a lifting keel I have delicious recollections of sailing her in waters of a metre or less to the vocal consternation of shallow water dwellers around the shorelines.
