    Expedition To The Ege...

so, what happens, do the fall off? The edge that is? God, I miss the gym. That is where I typically would watch these shit shows while on the thread mill. Gotta love the Brown family!

    Everyone is buying boats...

The Euro has had some serious issues over the last years, no doubt about it. Time will tell if the dollar is not in some much more serious shit. Believe me, I hope you are right, but I have some very strong doubts and worry about what the future holds.

    Everyone is buying boats...

Look at the numbers of 2008: $1.40 was common. It got close to 1.50. THAT was weak. 1.17 is still holding up the facade of normalcy.

Euro is $ 1.17. I would not call that weak.

I don't think Clean claims to know, but anyone with a few functional brain cells knows that there is shady shit going on. It is hard to believe that Trump's pattern of lying and deceit is not influencing the Fed and Treasury. The guy has surrounded himself with crooks his whole life and these same crooks who have been running his business into catastrophe (I mean look at the unbelievable losses!) are running the country now, keeping up an image that all is good, or not as bad as it seems.

Chubby Girl - Going to Hawaii

He has already done way too much drifting in the midst of a busy shipping area. Looks like he has AIS, but how does he even get out of the way without wind?

    Everyone is buying boats...

Our marina always had many empty slips. Not any longer. And people are using their boats! Mostly to hang out on, though. I know it will change again, and I am also debating putting my boat up for sale. Maybe start with a high price to see what happens...

Chubby Girl - Going to Hawaii

Actually the quarantine is no longer in place if you do a a pre-departure test within 72 hours of arrival... oh wait, that is not going to work. He also has sails made by Kame Richards. The guy got some local respected talent involved. And these are not people who will do anything to take your money. I hope he makes it, but yes WHY WHY WHY?

    Santa Cruz 27 Plans/Lines/Drawings?

Colgate 26: Not that it means anything, but I don't believe I have ever seen one on the bay. I see regarding the small cockpit size.

    Santa Cruz 27 Plans/Lines/Drawings?

It seems you have done your research well and I am not aware of what you exactly need, but I have seen quite a few Olson 25s for sale. The Ranger 26 is a great bay boat as well (and another Mull design - you mentioned the tuna). And those are well under the 20k budget. I would seriously consider buying one of your SC27s, especially if it comes with a trailer. Just saying.

leave vertical battens in jib when down?

FYI the OP is asking about a jib on a J/88.

leave vertical battens in jib when down?

Yes roll it and when you get a crease don't pull it out, which damages the fibers.

    Boat hording in Sydney B.C

Thru-hulls only seem to fail on boats that don't deserve it. Seriously, how are some pieces of shit still afloat, while I worry about replacing anything that might fail, especially if it is under water, or keeps the mast up?

    Corby 29 vs j35

The French seem to be good at combining race and cruise capabilities. I sailed on some Beneteaus that were a blast to race and provided a super comfortable place to sleep when we did some overnight races. Added bonus: the wine storage is ample. Yes, that was not your question. I would go for the J, but I think in Europe you will have better options than the J

    Boat hording in Sydney B.C

be a little creative here: amidst a pandemic you can load one of these boats with supplies, have a second boat for the dog to shit on, a third for quarantine purposes, and a fourth to live on.

leave vertical battens in jib when down?

This! The worst thing for a sail besides UV exposure is folding it and pulling creases out. Rolling it is by far the best storage option. Taking tension off the halyard and not rolling too tight will go a long way.

    Has foiling gone too far?

Imagine those whale oil ships would have been that fast. Sperm whales would definitely be extinct.

Will there be a third wave?

Be careful: the flu was introduced by the europeans. Sometimes it was spread on purpose because they knew the native population was killed by it. That is genocide, not natural selection. The reason why the Native Americans were not exposed to the flu before the arrival of the europeans probably has a lot to do with not living with animals the way the europeans did. And while the europeans had a long history of the flu, building immunity over hundreds of years, the native population was exposed all at one. Since we now live in a global society the spread is rapid and the exposure somewhat similar to how we are now being exposed to a new virus. Maybe the latter was your point, but it does seem that some healthy humans get extremely sick or die.

Fortunately he is not in charge! Imagine someone making shit up making decisions that gets people killed ... oh wait

Great points and I am disturbed by the false narratives.

    Santa Cruz 27 Plans/Lines/Drawings?

No one is instructing anyone. The OP asks a question, people provide opinions, including that this might be a poor idea. "Their own boats/property": if you buy a historical building you will often find it is protected and you cannot change at will. Why is that? They have features that are unique and regarded as something valuable that should be preserved. These fast are fun boats have no official protection, but the point here is similar: they are worth preserving. On making an offer: the OP knows what these boats sell for and will find a buyer. No problem.

Will there be a third wave?

Apples and oranges, to some degree. Spain is a small country compare to the US. Even within Spain you will find different waves. Looking at the data of the whole of the US does not provides a very clear picture on the specifics relevant for individuals, governments, businesses, or schools. On the other hand, it does show that as a whole, the US is in a pretty shitty condition. Zooming in from that bigger picture to specific states we might need some anthropologists and psychologists to make sense of things. Why did NYC suffer so badly and react so well? This is not just political views, it also seems that certain regions are better at following advice. The left coast is now finally flattening the curve. The cowboy mentality seems alive and well. Even with those "Any functional adult 2020" bumper stickers, people here in the West will have their social gatherings, go to Las Vegas, or camp on a crowded campground with shared bathrooms.

    Santa Cruz 27 Plans/Lines/Drawings?

Oh, there is a market. As someone else pointed out above they just had the Nationals amidst a pandemic and smoke. 9 boats showed up. Someone else pointed out the huge demand in the PNW. These are great boats and there are only about 100 made, ever. DON'T DESTROY THESE THREE!!! In terms of the market: unless you have a really well sorted boat you will not fetch 10k, but there will be takers if you come down to reality (about half of that for a decent boat and about 1/4 of that for a boat that needs quite a bit of work) I really do think it is a shame to chop up a great design and I don't think it is financially a great decision either. invest the +20k instead ina boat that works for your needs.

    Mocking Ads on Craigslist

Fucking brilliant! I have some Douglas firs in my neighborhood... They are protected but that is the due diligence of the buyer right? Seller has 100% positive feedback.
