  1. The new owners of Transas and therefor iSailor released their new policies regarding chart updates. From now on a yearly update subscription is as expensive as the initial chart license itself, also for existing customers. In the past for many years a central „why iSailor“ point was „free future chart updates“. So existing customers do not longer own what they bought, similar to a being victims of theft Join the shitstorm on www.facebook.com/Wartsila.iSailor

VOR Leg 1 Alicante to Lisbon

Aren't these Sail experts cool in their lower right corner of their vids? I love them. They remind on the old guys from Sesame Street - and of these verses "ooowh i'm sexy and i'm french, everybody love my accent ! i'm the best ! yes ! yes !" (who knows the song?) Respect to VOR to produce these unpolished video stuff. Much better than the ever-marketing-scaled videos from last round...

    VOR 2017-18

From tomorrow afternoon (UTC) on it's going to become very slow. Will be interesting to see how the boats will approach the dying winds...

    Vendee Globe 2016?

<bullshit deleted by poster> Do the TWS and TWA data come from the grib, not from the boat itself on the gis.ee tracker?

    Vendee Globe 2016?

looks like HB is playing cat and mice. For 36 hours he let the followers come slowly nearer (2-4 miles per sched) and today within 2 scheds he adds +30 miles... If it's going to be a really close about hooking into the LP his speed could make the difference. Going to be an interesting weekend.

the defining points of the ice exclusion zone must not be moved if at least one sailor is closer than 1500 miles to it. from http://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/news/15419/the-ice-wall : If, however, the Race Directors note that the ice has shifted further north or has not advanced as much, these points may be moved northwards or southwards. The competitors will be informed at least 1,500 miles before the modification. That happened in the Barcelona World Race, where the points were shifted to the south after the drifting ice melted more quickly.

AT seems to have woken up. Within one sched he got more miles back than the others earned on him the last 30 hours... Looks like he got up at sunrise, significant course change exactly in the moment the daylight came in. ;-)

That's only the speed/VMG at the moment of reporting. You better look at the 4hr average, for example on the geovoiles-site (menu - classements). I was referring to the data in the Excel-Sheet from VG-Website. He is slower since he left the doldrums - even more significant in 1500 update

Why is HB going so slow, better angle, same wind compared to BP?

    Vendee Globe 2016?

Question to the experts: Is the dotted line in the southern ocean on the VG tracker the ice limit? If so, pretty far to the north - currently the path is blocked by a high pressure sitting directly on the line...
