    Dinghy In The Pool?

I thought this was about the Fireball in the Davis Island pool Mid-Winters trick. I also seem to remember a certain sail makers lightning with trailer in a pool in Sanford. Long time gone.

    2019 Fishing Thread

We only keep a couple of the medium sized ones to eat. Anything over 15 inches is put back after getting a picture taken. We have some reds in the pond and when they hit a bass lure it is a long chase to save the bait and fishing line!

Carfax / Autocheck - anyone need one?

Listed a Ford van last month and received several responses requesting vehicle reports. This was on a 24 year old vehicle with 400,000 miles with an asking price of 1000. Had another one insisting that I take a cashiers check that would include money to pay for someone to tow it away. I got rid of that one by requesting a photo copy of drivers license along with the check. One of the report guys cussed me for refusing to run the report. Did sell for cash to a real person after all the scam callers gave up.

    Greta Rides Again?

Gee, every 14 days higher than normal tides. New moon and full moon tides ring a bell? I have lived here my whole life of 70 years and these are normal events. Charleston floods when it rains and it is worse if that happens to be at high tide. Oh, and the beaches have been washing away as well.

    Fucking parasites

slightly off topic. I was an unpaid (by choice) BN for an out of town couple for many years. They covered expenses for the boat and if I delivered it somewhere covered my travel costs. I had use of it when available. Many years later when they no longer sailed or owned a boat I was in a tight spot and out of the blue I got a large check from them with a note thanking me for everything and that they did not expect to be repaid.

    Home Energy Stabilization?

Excess carbon is removed? From where is it removed and where is it stored after being removed? If it sounds too good to be true it usually isn't.

How do you stop a British Seagull?

Still have one in the garage. Just can't bring myself to toss it out. Also still have the Zodiac that it pushed. Mid 70's used it on several cruises in the old Pearson 300.

    living in a lighthouse

Long time ago (30 years at least) I spent a week in the Haig Point Light House across the sound from Hilton Head. Creepy place late at night in a thunderstorm. I would love to see pictures of some of them under construction.

Autonomous ships--good, bad, or we don't know yet?

Just look at the major shipping related incidents that occurred world wide during January and imagine how they would have played out with unmanned ships.

    Darwin strikes again

An Arizona man was fatally shot Monday after he donned a bulletproof vest and asked a friend to shoot him, authorities said. Parker Ray Lynch and two friends were firing rounds from a .223 single-shot rifle at a ballistic vest in a tree-lined area in the town of Central, about 160 miles east of Phoenix, the Graham County Sheriff’s Office said. At one point, Lynch, 25, put on the vest and asked his friend Steven Watson to shoot at him, authorities said. Watson fired one round at Lynch’s abdomen. It was unclear if the bullet pierced the vest or missed it. Lynch was taken to a hospital and died during surgery.

    Charleston, SC - advice needed

Snakes and spiders are not a problem compared to fire ants. I'll be glad to give you my agents name if you are interested. He is a friend, long time agent, and very good at his job. I told him I was looking for a home for the rest of my life. It took a bit but he found it. An older home with a garage, well built in the 1950's, large yard, and high enough to not need flood insurance. Most of the new planned subdivisions are being built in areas prone to flooding if the retention ponds and pumps fill/or lose power.

    Charleston, SC - advice needed

The West Ashley area is the best as far as price of homes and travel times with traffic. Room for growth in value as well. Plenty of older neighborhoods and nearby shopping areas. As far as number 3 Charleston is no worse than any other place in the USA. The good news is that it is still a place where good manners and acts of kindness are expected of everyone.

    Connex Boxes

The Dutch Coastguard has issued a navigational warning after an ultra-large containership lost scores of containers while underway in the North Sea. The ship, MSC ZOE, was in German waters when it lost the containers in heavy seas between Vlieland, Netherlands and the German Bight in the southeastern North Sea on New Year’s Day.
