No, it's funny the ranking because generally it's not that it changes the mood of the crew but it definitively influences it, it's human. That's it, the race is not over, the leg either.... we lost 10 miles. Anyway, If at each ranking, at some point, you have bad news, it's sure that you must end up depressed. Here, we had our little dose for the week, I think now that's enough because at some point, it will annoy me"

This leg is all about routing (and luck going across the doldrums.) with more then one possible route ! AKZO : Has been quite performant going through Doldrums twice and made good routing choices during leg 7. MAPFRE : If they are not covering DFRT, they will be in good position for a win but they are fighting so hard DFRT than AKZO has a better chance of winning. DFRT : Still waiting for a genius routing decision from Pascal. Too many mistakes so far and definitively not the excellence seen in previous edition. BRUNEL : Having won the previous leg, will take too many risks and fail (again !) just like leg 6 VESTAS : Too many issues with the sponsors, cannot break again and will hesitate to take risk ; no risk no gain. TTTOP : Better than ever but still lagging a little bit behind. SHKS : Has been lucky twice with the routing, will not happen again. Unfortunately John Fisher will remain in their head until the end, which is not good for a good result.

Brunel is using a new main sail since Auckland, Mapfre is going to use a new one now. Vesta is probably using a new one by obligation. What about the other boats, when are they going to change ?

VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

In-port race points are only used if two boats have the same number of points overall at the end. It's not used to allocate more points for the overall standing.

VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

The current standing is Dong ahead of Mapfre by 4 mn 31 seconds (numbers in columns are time racing in seconds !) Brunel in third place is somewhat 24 hours behind Dong & Mapfre.

VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

How is allocated the "one point" for crossing Cap Horn first. Is the one point added to the leg score or added to the overall scoring. Example : Brunel crossing Cap Horn first and arriving first @ Itajai : First case : 1 point for the Cap Horn + 7 for the leg = 8 points multiply by 2 for this leg = 16 points Second case : 7 points for the leg multiply by 2 = 14 points + 1 point for cap Horn = 15 points

VOR Leg 6 Hong Kong to Auckland

"Caudrelier reckons it’s been as case of the blind leading the blind, as he explained. “What’s funny is that some boats are following us and every time we change our heading, they change theirs, but what they don’t know is that…we don’t know where to go because we have had no forecast nearly since day two....."
