      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. What ever happened to the farr 400?

The one in the first link seems to have the swept back bow that my local boat has. Apparently the factory bow shape made the boat a moving waterfall with any kind of wave action whatsoever.
  2. What ever happened to the farr 400?

  3. I know that the boat didn't really take off. I have sailed one on but the owner had to do extensive modification to get it to meet his needs. That boat is no slouch, (can't speak for others). There are some seeming to unfinished builds for sale? Is there anywhere where 2 boats line up?
  4. Finn sailing

    +10000000000
  5. Finn sailing

Depending on our budget. 5k for a low end to 25k for a brand new boat. Would help to know location, height and weight.
  6. what is it?

    Carkeek 40 mk3?
  7. If your interested in the finn I can help you find one for cheap. Message me if interested. 245 is a very competitive weight
  8. Get a Finn if you want a workout as well. Most physically taxing boat I have ever sailed.
  9. caption contest

"Just wait till ETNZ puts foils on it. Then you fuckers will eat your words."
  10. Find me an Offshore Sporty 35-40' Under 100K

All great till the keel peaces out.
  11. Islands Race - NHYC/SDYC

Great race on Paranoia. Took us 8 hours 13 minutes... Pretty quick for a SC52 short rig. No chance of us beating the ULDBs but we did beat the other 2 boats in our fleet.
  12. better safe than sorry?

Wait and see what the conditions will be. If there's a good chance of boats breaking conditions, then go inshore, if not, run the standard course The islands race is special because it isn't another run down the coast, it has a lot of tactical decisions based on island current, exclusion zones, etc. I personally want to run the whole course. I hope that conditions agree.
  13. Islands Race - NHYC/SDYC

Damn, wish I had a bigger boat. Not many 138 / 126 raters. Forecast calls so far is not too impressive. http://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:90704.7.99999 Weather is picking up a bit - sailflow showing 30+ knots on the course - Expedition routings are showing a ~12 hour course for the good ship Paranoia SC52. With low 20s well into the night, this is shaping up to be one hell of a rip. The faster boats ought to be in before midnight, and the ORMA could be done in 7 or 8 hours.
