      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. newbie bowman tips

I've seen the setup for dip pole, at least in terms of how the poles work, but I've never been on a boat that does them. what size boats use them? 40 feet+?
  2. newbie bowman tips

I've been reading through this whole thread, and while I've absorbed a lot, I've got one overwhelming question. Compared to all of you, I'm a newb sailor, only at it a couple of years, and my primary form of racing is shields keelboats, not exactly cutting edge stuff, but fun none the less. I've done a few big races on a benetau 36.7, and done a fair amount of sailing on other boats, j29, j109, my folks catalina 30.. but I've pretty much done none of what you all describe. I can set a chute, but the most sophisticated setup I've used ( other then while on a ride on the maxi r/p scout spirit 77') is just a chute, pole, sheets on the clue( so one sheet and one guy), one of which is through the pole, and tweekers on the sheets. I don't use double guys or anything like that, but perhaps I've just getting confused. a loaded line off the clue is the sheet, and the lazy sheet= guy? I've never done dip pole either, i've just done across, unclip from mast, swing across, while swinging unclip from old sheet, onto new sheet, then on mast. I've never "really" done bow, but I'd like to. I've been up a few rigs, and I enjoy getting soaked in the face, I can trim well, have done pit stuff, and am quite agile...
