Girl with patreon account goes sailing in hot place

Doing the hull is the fast & easy bit especially a Benford dory. Been a lot of optimists thinking they'll be on the water in 2 years. I've yet to see anyone who's done it in something in the 30+ foot size - at least, in a finished boat. Some have boarded an empty hull and called it good, but that's *not* a completed boat. FKT

This is going to be running for at least 6 years if he does it all himself. My reason for saying that - I personally know 2 people who've built Benford junk rigged dories, the 34' 'BADGER' type. The quicker of the 2 took 6 years, the other one almost 10. The quicker one was a newly retired toolmaker with all the tooling needed, had built 3 houses so was very familiar with carpentry etc and built the boat in the front yard of his house so zero commuting or wasting time going to the workshop for stuff. I've been out sailing with him on a number of occasions while we swap 'life experience' stories of boat building. I can't see how trying to make videos at the same time is going to speed the process along at all. FKT

Too painful to watch. WRT Swain boats, there have been some pretty decent ones built, but all the credit goes to the builders and not the person who sketched out a vaguely boat-shaped object. FKT

    Ancestry DNA

Oh I agree with you on the value of the geographic stuff. Be interesting to do the historic assays but there's a permissions problem there. What right to the DNA information do you have? If it was in completely anonymised form, maybe, but if you stuck it in a database with the name, sex, DOB and DOD of the person, I'd have a severe problem with that. I've spent a lot of my working life designing/building databases for various purposes including genetic. Australia is bringing in an electronic E-Health system. I've opted out of it. Nor would I willingly allow a DNA sample to be collected & uploaded into any system, anywhere. On this one I have a double-layer, extra strength tinfoil beanie..... FKT

    Ancestry DNA

Given that I've been involved in newborn screening software development (and therefore spent a lot of time in the labs and with researchers) for over 25 years, allow me to say that I don't find that in the least surprising. Up until DNA testing it was a wise/brave man who could assert with confidence that he knew who his father was. For genealogy it's only worth tracing the maternal line. FKT

    I still call Australia home

I've met a number of women who are bitter about their divorce, still think they were in the 'right' and deeply resent the fact that their ex has found happiness living with a foreign woman from a different culture. A lot of them had well & truly absorbed the doctrine that the woman was always right and if she wasn't, she had every right to withhold sex as punishment to make their man's life miserable. Seems their idea of monogamy was, he couldn't go anywhere else for sex and therefore her right to only have sex when she felt like it translated to using sex as a reward/punishment mechanism. Somehow none of it was ever their fault. Engineer friend of mine explained his take on things to one at a party when he got tired of listening to her piss & moan. It was interesting listening to it. FWIW he's been married for 35 years to the same women who's no doormat, a well accomplished medical professional in her own right. FKT

That's why people like me are in such high demand. Different genes to add to the shallow pool..... FKT

People like Meli would run crying to the UN about cruel & unusual punishment though. Plus she & her Greens friends would complain about the destruction of a pristine wilderness environment. FKT

That is true, why should you care - few do. I'm happy to be overlooked. If it weren't for Bass Strait this place would be overrun by refugees from Victoria and real estate prices would go up. All you bastards with boats would want your own moorings and people like me & Olaf Hart wouldn't be able to own as many as we wanted. God forbid I actually have to learn how to anchor a boat. The point is, though, in Tasmania's case it would make more sense to abolish all the local councils and have the State Govt run everything. There's only half a million people after all. Or contract it out to Brisbane City Council on a renewable 5 year basis - hard to see how they could do a worse job and at least they seem to be able to run a half-decent public transport system. FKT

Funny you should say that - I have the wood fire going as I type this. Yesterday was 28C, today - somewhat less. Don't have to boil the rainwater though, the bird shit adds a piquant flavour that has to be appreciated. FKT

No problems. We can always re-commission Sarah Island. Or better still, ship them all to Macquarie Island. FKT

Come on, the answer to that is bleeding obvious. The failed Labor politician/groupie who gets appointed to be El Presidente will be better off. I'm certain that the beloved Lord Kevin of Queensland would allow himself - reluctantly, of course, in the public interest - to be drafted. FKT

Waste of time even discussing it then. Stipulated that for the most part they are obsolete and inefficient, not to mention occasionally quite corrupt (not that local councils are any better, quite the contrary). Point is this is a Federation of States. Eliminating them would involve - at minimum - a referendum. Good luck getting *that* passed. No way the smaller States would support it - it was the main reason the Senate was set up with equal representation for States regardless of population. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have the population to outvote the rest of the country. FKT

So which layer of Govt would run Tasmania? Given the total population is less than Brisbane City Council. FKT

Dammit - this is another one of those rare occasions that I agree with you. The only thing wrong with a lot of Aussie blokes marrying Filipina, Thai or whoever bar girls is, the *AUSSIE* is an arsehole who shouldn't be allowed near any woman. Not all by any means, probably only 20% or so, but that's still a lot. Probably about the same number of women who are just after a free ticket. One dickhead shot his ex last year down here because she left him. OTOH a man over the hill has a Thai wife, set her up with satellite TV back in the day so she could watch stuff in her native language, takes her back for regular visits home, has her extended family out here. Dunno what her background was, don't care, it works for them. FKT

As I said, numeracy isn't your strong point. That figure you list above is out by 3 orders of magnitude. But hey, that's about the standard for lefties wanting to spend public money, so I'm sure nobody here will be surprised. FKT

FAIR Act to Reform Asset Seizure Laws

Sure - after you're convicted in a court of law and the magistrate/judge applies a penalty they consider appropriate. Not just some law official confiscating stuff and forcing you to court to get it back. We don't attribute crimes or criminal intent to property (*). Do try to follow the dots. FKT (*) well most people don't but the anti-gun brigade seem convinced to the contrary.

FAIR Act to Reform Asset Seizure Laws

Absolutely nothing like your RICO laws and if you can't tell the difference, that's not my problem. FKT

    I still call Australia home

We both know she won't answer that. I remember one of Turnbull's finest moments - crying when his beloved republic referendum went down in flames. Yet despite that loss, Meli seems to think more Aussies were heartbroken over that event than not. But numeracy has, as demonstrated many times, never been her strong point. FKT

But if I meet a Filipina in a bar in Sydney or Brisbane, that's different, right? FKT
  22. Fah Kiew Tu

FAIR Act to Reform Asset Seizure Laws

We don't have asset seizure laws like you do - even our politicians weren't quite *that* venal/greedy/stupid. So the question is moot. FKT

A lot of us can & do read the ABC news too, you know. We don't really need a copy agent. Who cares what the Victorian Greens do anyway - not like they matter. What's 2 fuckwits mixed in with the fruitcakes...... FKT
