This is PA. It would be a callous disregard of duty by any PA contributor to ignore any thread. Especially this thread. Sorry Sean, It is our duty - you are stuck with this thread forever.

I'm still in negative territory - probably because most of my posts were against BS and followers. Or.... maybe.... it is because in a previous life I wrote the satirical piece about a female sailing 'journalist' in Sydney. Quite a few years back. But it think the powers that be have a long long memory and could possibly hold a grudge.

Can someone please explain the "Hillary" thing to me?

Ok, I'll bite, and risk more negative points - I don't even know how I got those - something related to BS in the past I guess. If you don't already know, I am sort of centrist, but leaning to the right. I also cant vote because I am still just a legal alien. Maybe citizen soon, probably by the next lottery. I work in both TX and CA. There are extremists in both, but probably a few more moderates in CA where I can enjoy social chat when being wined and dined at clients homes. Even reasonably strong Dems in CA miss being able to have an enjoyable chit chat about politics. Most people seem to have gone extreme one way or the other, and people have mostly stopped discussing politics. Get a reasonable strong Dem, a spouse who lived through the the fall of the wall (from the other side) and an ex pat Aus who travelled east and west, together with good food and a decent amount of scotch, and you have a very enjoyable evening. So to the topic at hand. Hillary. Dems and Hillary need to stop making excuses. She was arrogant. She didn't care about the states that had an oversized impact on the college. Dems need to stop being lazy about civics and understand how elections in the US work. They shouldn't be angry at fox news - it is there , and always will be. They should be angry with ABC, MSN, CNN and more for being lazy with reporting, and telling their viewer ship how voting works. Hillary did have a lot of arrogant baggage. it didn't need a lot of substance, BECAUSE she was arrogant / condescending. Not a good idea to class the other side as either haters or deplorables to shore up your own voter base. Those who have legitimate concerns about her only have those concerns magnified. People were sick of Bill, george 1 and 2 and Obama because well Obama didn't actually get a lot done - for the important people in the college states. I think that's what hurts the dems the most - they seem to have this attitude that because there is is a lot of dems in CA and NY etc, they feel they should win regardless of what other people think. By any account that is just simply dumb. They need to own up to this. Then they can work on changing the system. I personally do not like Hillary at all. I admire anyone who is principled to achieve an outcome for that principle. I don't see that in her. I just see political entitlement, arrogance, and let them eat cake attitude. Complaining about the russians, the email server, blah blah may have had a small impact, but imho not enough to swing it. I mean she lost the right to a egotistical, sexist, possibly agnostic (I am one, and I suspect he is) candidate. Merika heartland, ripe for change was not prepared to go with status quo with a side of entitled arrogance. They would rather have someone who says - sure I swear / womanize sometimes, than someone who swears more than a sailor behind closed doors and attempts to hide it. The crazy part is, with all the dem whining STILL going on, not trying to fix their own faults, he stands a better than 50/50 chance of getting a second term. Dems need to get out and smell the breeze in good ol' mid USA some more. Her seemingly endless whining without taking ownership doesn't help - of course. Ok Flame away

    Mocking Ads on Craigslist

I'm just going to mock the guy behind the boats - not the boats themselves - although some are mockworthy. https://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/boa/d/ranger-23/6559789739.html Ranger 23 ft sailboat new rigging exc sails 5 hp motor runs good. AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE OR COMPARABLE VALUE TRADE Delivery options available, UP TO 1,000 miles. Pick-up available, for your convenience. ~~~~TRAILERS AVAILABLE~~~~ Possible partial finance. Minimally priced installments. Lease-to-own options. Reasonable down payment. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- MISCELLANEOUS SAILS AND ROPES AVAILABLE For purchase, ranging from $200-$2000 -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- EVERYBOAT *** MUST *** GO! -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- ~The proceeds from the boats and vehicles that we sell, help Mars Rescue provide emergency shelter, veterinary services and foster care for abandoned pets in DFW. For more information about volunteering or adopting, visit : -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- www.marsrescue.org -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Happy Travels! He's been trying to sell this for over a year. Current CL view has the boat with 2 different prices, 1,900 and 3,900. Last week he also had another ad for it at 1,200 Then there is the ketch, the numerous catalina 22s , paceship 26, hunter 25, the ericson 28 which was being sold by a private person a few weeks ago, now one of his ads at $800 or so higher. This guy just never stops. It'd be ok if he called himself a dealer, but he doesn't - every boat is listed as private owner. One day he might realize most possible clients arent going to go near him. Sorry i took up space , but i needed the rant. It must be pissing off those truly trying to sell their sailboats - I'm not - I just like to see whats on the market, but he is an annoying POSter.

Dear NRA: We Won’t Let You Win. From, Teenagers.

Everyone has there opinion. I just don't look forward to when the republicans become as electorally arrogant as the democrats were in dissing a constituency they thought was safe / solid. It didn't work out well for the democrats. Gotta get out of the cities people and talk to some country folk people.Anyway, sleep for me and lake sailing tomorrow. Watchout for this rabid ex Aussie now Texan being in SF next week for work. Y'all have fun!

I'm more elephant than jdonkey, but the last election was a wakeup to many. I don't think it will have a major effect on the next election, but it will the one after that. If nothing else, apart from whining about the popular vote - which is rightfully meaningless - many did finally learn a bit about the electoral college.

    Craigslist - Not mocking

it has been on CL for some time... https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/boa/d/1984-regan-23-race-cruise/6537235554.html Then again boats tend to stay on DFW CL for a long time anyway.

Gen Y is already on the nose with young adults, who have seen rampant narcissism fail Gen Y so far. Groundswell I've seen generally is the upcoming young adults are more likely to organize. Time will tell. Let's discus in 10 - 15 years.

    Cell Phone Carnage

Most definitely. Spring time in Western Texas. Skunks killed by vehicles is well above an order of magnitude higher than skunks killed by bullet / pellets. The worst part is when there are 3 or 4 on the road right in front of you, freshly splattered and no way to completely avoid some detritus lodging itself in the wheels or engine bay. Yes smoking is not good for your health, but it sure helps mask the smell that stays for miles and miles.

Dear NRA: We Won’t Let You Win. From, Teenagers.

An interesting point. But teens will naturally nationalize over this to get strength in numbers. Are you proposing failures by LE should only be handled locally? If the LE fails to enforce a State or Federal Law, shouldn't they be held accountable by the State or Federation? Oh Wait, I guess we already have precedence in CA where State Officials tip off illegal residents who also happen to be violent offenders about an upcoming round up. You're right, we need to rely on Billy Bob and Billie Jo to vote out Sheriff Cletus when he didn't uphold State / Federal Law.

Dear NRA: We Won’t Let You Win. From, Teenagers.

So the NRA thinks it is above democracy then? Doesn't surprise me, but the arrogance still disgusts me. I do think less of people who actively support the NRA, but I respect the 2nd amendment and those who eloquently make their arguments. They be playing with fire eventually if they keep that attitude up. In a country where 17 year olds in many states can vote in primaries and caucuses, and where voting is not compulsory, get the teens fired up enough and they can swing the vote. Young adults tend to vote democrat, and then swing right as they age. So I guess the NRA wants to fire up some more dem voters huh? I predict a groundswell of young activism in local politics, which will move upwards through state and federal politics by the time they get to their mid thirties and forties. Not a bad thing IMHO. There is a lot wrong on both side of politics and in both houses.

    What is your utopia.

I agree, Australia would be an even better country now without those whinging poms back then much the same as the US would have been much better without those puritans.
