  1. How does one start to figure this out. Don't laugh, but have a venture 21, the hull and keel are standard, the mast and boom are standard. it has an over sized main, slightly undersized jib and a deck mounted sprit and asym. I just allowed myself to be talked into racing it. How do I go about figuring a PHRF rating ?
  2. So it seems that the basic answer is that I submit the info and measurements of the modifications to the RC and they give me the rating ? I don't provide it to them ?
  3. Ha, I normally race opb and let those owners do the bitching about the ratings, it bores me to tears. Anyway a sort of bar room agreement came about with another guy who owns a small shitbox that I will enter the next race if he will and boost participation. I truly don't care what my number turns out to be or what position is get corrected into. I just want to show that made somewhat of a good faith attempt to get it somewhere close, because you know someones going bitch about it.

    Used Rudder ??

I am looking for a used rudder for a modified venture 21. I am hoping that something with a proper foil section will help reduce weather helm. Does anyone know of a sportsboat grave yard ? An OD class that upgraded rules at one point ? Located in SE USA. Thanks

    Used Rudder ??

It might not be too small, the current rudder is a lifting deal and the pivot is down by the water line, so the whole blade would be in the water, unlike on the Hobie, They certainly are easy to find and cheap...

Was Hot Rod the designer for this one. Bold choice Alex.

    Today's Trump Headlines

I don't think it's the dementia, I just don't think he was even listening, looks like he was sitting there wondering who the fuck these people were and when he his next tee time is.

I'm going to take a wild as guess, carrington boats, launching a new biggish boat, quite secretively until big reveal. There no chance that there is a certain IMOCA 60 under that wrap.

    Drip Drip Drip

Yeah, but it's easy to forget that, I guess because there is some inherent disappointment that the day after the report came out Trump wasn't in an orange jumpsuit.

    Drip Drip Drip

Right, but given that this is important, and that there are a huge number of citizens that get their information in all manner of formats and from many different sources. one more set off cliff notes, straight from Mueller, on TV seems like it might clear things up a bit for a lot of people.

I might be wrong, but I didn't catch a conclusion that stated the "president committed X crime and here is the evidence" or "we found no evidence of a crime therefore he is innocent." I for one find that slightly ambiguous, I doubt I'm the only one so seeking clarification seems reasonable.

I hear you , but there are plenty of people who can't or won't read the whole 400 page report. They might be too busy, not sufficiently literate, intelligent, maybe english isn't their first language. I guess my point is that we the people seemingly want further clarification we should get it because we paid him. As for the conclusion that the POTUS can't be charged, when did he realize that bit right at the end or when he got started ? I feel like that could have been mentioned earlier.

Yeah, over two years he was paid ( I'm assuming ) fairly well from the public purse. After two years the report comes out and the conclusion is ambiguous enough that both sides can claim different conclusions and plenty of people are unclear on what the conclusion was. After that he doesn't really feel like explaining himself, I thought the guy was a public servant, paid by the public to let us know if the president was a naughty boy or not. I think a significant number of the public, even those who have read the report aren't really sure what the conclusion meant, therefore he hasn't finished yet.

    Is The Thrill Gone?

South GA.... It's the heat .....fuck. On another note, I was starting to feel a little jaded, especially with sailing in the same phrf fleet around the same courses. I still do it on an opb, mainly because I enjoy the company of the crew and the beer. I went on a daysail on my own in my trailer sailor last weekend, although not racing I can't help but sail like I'm racing, use the kite when I can. If there is mark I have to round for nav purposes I treat like I would in a race, call a layline, execute a neat hoist/drop/gybe etc, trying to think about all that single handed is a whole new world and great fun.

How much to pay a Captain

Honestly. Most "pro" captains who are interested in running a 44ft boat will likely have less experience than you, has a zero to hero yachtmaster and is looking to get a foot in the door.

    Hunter 23.5 'Vantage'

What is the weight of the boat and the tow capacity of the car ? Is it 2wd ? My boat ramps are slippy as fuck at low tide, I'm sure yours are similar.

    Kellyanne Conway

Isn't that sessions and tillerson on the back row, I think they are both gone.

    Sustain-ably Stupid

Totally agree, see also superyachts and private jets. It is widely reported the 0.1% own and control wealth in staggering numbers compared to the rest of us. I would hazard a guess that their carbon footprints are also proportionally out sized.

    Brexit, WTF

Is there a deadline for the EU to approve or deny the extension ? I guess if all 27 members have to approve it there must be some kind of vote. When is that ?

    where is it?

Best guess, Savannah Yacht Center is a newish yard opened on the site of an old one. Mainly aimed a huge motor yachts. It has facilities to haul and move some big ass boats and probably isn't super busy as it's quite new. I strongly doubt there are any carbon / race boat specialists in town but there are a few composite guys and riggers etc based on the E coast that travel.

Yup, Thunderbolt is still up and running. Expanded in recent years.

    Battle of Britain

I didn't like the un elected bureaucrats at my local city charging me for property taxes and telling me not to fill my yard full of my trash. So I burned my house down, showed them suckers.
