Did Hot Rod reappear and do that ?

Glad they put that fender there, I would hate to see that boat get scratched.

    Georgia Gubernatorial Election

And yet my FIL, who lives in rural GA. Who is broke and sick and needs a lot of monthly meds along with my MIL. Has gotten up and registered to vote for the first time that my wife can remember. He's voting for Kemp. Because the "other one is scary" "wants illegals to vote" "wants to take my guns". Fear and misinformation is powerful stuff.

    Three Sheets to the Wind

I'm with the nantucket windmill idea we must have been on the same tour ! To add I think they used four sheets until it was too windy then they would reduce it to two. Obvously at some point in the "reefing" process they would have had three up and it would have been very unbalanced.

Savannah says no thanks, keep it in florida.

    What is going on here?

That boat and a very large number of similar boats, have been doing it like that for countless miles for many years.

    Sailing “bucket list” thread

Right, I'm surprised this answer is more popular, you see the vendee / volvo / ultime / supermaxi teaser videos. That.. I'm sure and hour or two would be plenty.

Looking for a Viper 640 mast

I think I know of an alloy one in Savannah GA. However the guy wanted $350 for about 2 years ago. Let me know if you might be interested.
  9. Great race, I mostly lurked as I didn’t have a lot to add to the knowledge and insight shown here. I was reading along with you all, thank !!!
  10. That's exactly what I mean, he may well have been thinking 1 or nothing, don't spare the horse(s)
  11. Does anyone remember a while back Bouwe stating that his boat had always been a bit slow on port tack ? Could that mean it's real quick on stbd ? Either that or he thought " 8 laps, no wins, now or never". It's often said that the race is balance between pushing and keeping the boat in one piece, maybe at the moment when it counted Bouwe went into shit or bust mode. I doubt he gives much of fuck about coming 2nd or 3rd overall.

VOR Leg 9 Newport to Cardiff

I'm going to be honest. Mapfre didn't make many crew changes and elected to one light as opposed to replacing Sophie, when the news of the keel issues surfaced and they weren't in a good position I thought they had just lost the race. Flamed out early, peaked to soon, done a Telifonica. I think the most important thing is they will have enough confidence to recharge well in Newport. I would have thought that if you didn't do so well you have to do some training/testing and have lots of angst filled meetings during a stopover. Mapf seem quite well placed to focus on chilling. That has to make a difference.

    Team UK

My thoughts exactly, especially with the contrast of the TTOP and Vestas 11th/hr as sponsors we can get behind in the VOR. I'm not a fan of this.

Fair enough, put my hand up. I knew it was wrong when I did it.

VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

I agree, as long they get to the start line for the next one there isn't a right or wrong. Of course proximity to help and land would affect your decision. If I broke down in the middle of the outback I would probably try to fix my car with twigs and drink my own piss to survive, if it happened in walmart parking lot I would probably call AAA.

    Old One Ton

Don't know, but I think it's pretty to look at.
  18. It appears to me that all the delos crew are quite creative and get involved with the filming and production. I'm guessing they are invited because of their abilities to contribute to the process. I think there are six people working on their stuff, which is why it's so good.

VOR Leg 6 Hong Kong to Auckland

I hope they realise that that the graphics peeling of the boat is leaving plastic trash in the ocean right ?

VOR Leg 6 Hong Kong to Auckland

I know from the skippers of the commercially sponsored boats we only get to see the media trained sides of them coming out, but from what I can see Witty wins the skipper I would choose to have of pints with contest. I find him quite refreshing.
  21. So the deck on my Venture 21 seems to have a wood core, which amazingly seems dry and free of soft spots. I guess the proper way to install deck gear is to drill a touch oversize, fill the hole with epoxy and them re drill a touch smaller. TBH I can't really be fucked to do that if I don't have to. The quicker method is to drill, use some marine sealant and make progress towards getting the thing in the water. Is this approach sufficient or should I do it properly ?

VOR Leg 4 Melbourne to Honkers

Vestas reported to RC that further assistance wasn't required

VOR Leg 4 Melbourne to Honkers

Wind data looks ok which implies the rig is still up. What if it was a huge circular ish net and it wasn't entirely obvious which way to escape it.

VOR Leg 4 Melbourne to Honkers

It seem that by the next sched the skally's lead over everyone but Vestas will be about 10% of the miles left to go. Assuming it's still mostly a drag race I would say that boats behind that have shown superior speed are out of runway to grind them down through boatspeed alone.
