Steve and Dave Clarks Unidentified Foiling Object

I would not get my hopes up yet, unless you add hinges to the deck. Never mind schlepping an UFO through the airport. Virgin Atlantic https://goo.gl/KdpMd6: "If any of your bags are over 190 x 75 x 65cm (75 x 29.5 x 25.5in) or the three dimensions of a piece of luggage is more than 330cm/130ins, you won’t be able to check them in as baggage, but you might be able to fly them as cargo. [...] fees for oversized baggage are currently [...] USD 100 per item."

Boat hiking-harness should make crashes way more spectacular when doing 20mph+. I am looking forward to watching the replays.

Charlie, tighten up your ufo or it could be flying without you. Do not let Harvey take out 5-10% of the ufo fleet at once. All the best wishes to all y'all down in Texas. Harvey should know better: Don't mess with Texas! Cheers, Tom.

Speeking of silence: Is anyone sailing his fresh ufo? Nowadays that everyone tweets/snapchats/facebooks every minor non-event, it is amazing how little footage of the ufo there is. Actioncams anyone?

Same here. People report 77 ufo sightings - most with video - last week, alone. There must be substantially more flying saucers than green foilers. 10 boats (001 to 009 & 009.2) and so little coverage. Pbegle must have been abducted weeks ago after receiving his alien tech hull #001. Never seen again.

How many 009 hulls are there?

kindofblue: I suppose Treff is referring to this (red) vertical batten.

Dave: The 9 AoA setting holes for the front strut/foil are a nice idea.

M2: Thank you for the detailed pictures. Your ufo seems to be the only one out of the Area51 vault. Pbegle must have been abducted three weeks ago after receiving his alien tech hull #00001. Can you do us all a favor and go wild with your camera and post more pictures and videos? While waiting, I would happily stare on a picture of: ufo on water, ufo on trailer, ufo on foils, ufo tiller detail, ufo in no wind, ... In your experience, how many minutes would it take from getting the dolly to the waters edge (struts/foils in upper position, spar in pieces, sail rolled) to get ready to push it into the water (fully rigged, sail up). Has anyone sailed the ufo in sub-foiling wind conditions? Is it worth it when compared to other small dinghies/cats? How about weight trim, tacking/gybing, speed, upwind angle when in displacement mode? Thanks.

According to Dave, the rudder strut is 1.52 meters long and the mainfoil strut is 1.34 meters long. Floating, the foils draw about 1.22 meters.

Erza, Thank you for the review. I just came back from my lake yesterday with a broken carbon tiller extension for the same mistake. Felt kind of good to learn, I am not the only one hanging on to the tiller when going overboard. Dave, if you read this: I would like a beefed up tiller extension, too. This puts the second aluminum rod inside my extension for repair. Guess I could have bought an aluminum tiller extension in the first place. Carbon was not worth it. Cheers, Tom.

Have you sailed it? How is it? Pictures? Videos?

I am #18 - long way to go. I will take #4, #9 #13 or #17 should these be superstitious and willing to trade slots with me (unlucky numbers).

Has anyone got her/his ufo yet?
