      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Artemis?

    Very interesting. Fingers crossed!
  2. Artemis?

Sounds about right. I think thats where Artemis stands right now. They probably don't know themselves if they are going to challenge, and that decision is of course TT:s.
  3. Artemis?

From Artemis protocol statement: "The most important consideration for our team is the need for a cutting-edge boat design, one that results in speeds that are as fast or faster than in the last America’s Cup held in Bermuda. The boat and race format must be seen as bringing the sport of sailing forward and inspiring young and future generations." This fully-foiling gecko-thingy is supposed to be as fast as the AC50s, so what do you think? Could Artemis actually consider challenging in this edition now?
  4. Bermuda?

I spoke to Sam Hollis halfway through the cup. He told me that the luxury yachts in the harbour that day had just ordered alcohol, food, ice and other local services for multi-million-dollar figures. The ticket money was peanuts. The luxury spending sure as hell wasn't. The teams, us working around the cup and the luxury yacht program was probably the main consumers that summer. My team of 14 people was there for over two months. Just the hotel costs exceeded 100 grand, and those were some of the cheaper hotel rooms. And don't forget, a litre of milk costs 6 bucks on that island...
  5. VOR '17-'18 - THE GAME

So, new waypoint in the real leg! Will this be updated for us as well?
  6. AC 36 Protocol

You're not being a cunt. I see now that you did indeed start this thread already. Let's transfer the discussions to your original thread.
  7. Bye bye Artemis Racing

That is true, but isn't really a viable way to become a competitive team if you are supposed to compete with Prada, ETNZ and other teams from warmer places.
  8. Bye bye Artemis Racing

Oh WE are tough. It's Outerridge, Percy, Jensen and those other non-icemen that i'm worried about
  9. ...since all crew members have to fulfill this requirement: "Resident of the Country: The sailor must be physically present in the country of the yacht club for a minimum of 380 days in the 2 year period between the 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2020. Which equates to just over 6 months of each year." That pretty much forces the team to have their home base in their own country. I don't know how many on this forum has been in Sweden mid-winter, but let me tell you that there will be no AC75:s sailing here between november-february. Unless the class rule includes ice-breaking bows, that is. And sure, they COULD in theory move their whole operations back and forth between Sweden and warmer countries, but that is just not a viable option. A stupid way to formulate a nationality rule. Ruins it for us scandinavians, and still does not even require more than 20% acutal passport holders.
  10. AC 36 Protocol

    ...being released right now:

Very real time! Same data stream as Liveline, which has about a second of delay.
  12. Live Racing Thread

Honesty, it's a question of time and resources. Liveline in general and wing wash in particular is still a bit of a sience project. I myself mostly work hands on with the yachts and marks, but i know that our software guys are working hard. On the age old vmg/sog debate, i can only say that i agree, but people above us probably think otherwise.
  13. Live Racing Thread

Just spoke to Ken! From today, we should be pretty much up to date. We are sorry for the delays! There has been a lot going on theese few first days.
  14. Live Racing Thread

Advantage line is taking wind direction into consideration, but more conservatively than before. Huge wind direction changes can look vart strange. Wing wash is coming up, it is currently going through an update. We have a number of additions for this cup that will be used later on. Just starting of slowly
