    Hi, this is my home made full carbon block. sheave diameter is 45 mm. The sheave has only 7 g. I haven't tested the breaking load yet. It is made in a mould, pay attention for the fiber orientation.

    There is a multitude of this already in use - usually called "magic wheel" or some other derivative. Like used for backstay adjustment on some boats (e.g. IMX 40, 38 and others) Also used as purchase for travelers You are right, using different diameters is not new, remeber the vangs in the 70s on Finn or OK-dinghy, mounted on the boom. The news is to realize it as a single part, more compact, with no fixed mounting required.

    I havent tried it yet, but i think the right way will be to pull the windward rope softly to release the cleat and let it go leeward, due to the tension on the mainsheet. I'll try it and post a video.

    @Turd Sandwich: I agree with your opinion, that this cleat is usefull in many cases. The advantage is, that your control ropes are not under tension all the time, only when you adjust something. But i dont know, how strong is the idea protected by the constrictor-patent. @all : Thanks for your feedbacks.
  7. Hi, this idea uses as cleats the constrictor-concept. This could be protected by a patent from Trestec Cousin, my english is not good enough to understand the content of the patent.
