    Craigslist Finds

neither is going to the junkyard
  2. It seems that North America might contend that most of the contributors to this thread from outside North America struggle to understand the perspective of those based here, as well. LP is not to blame for everything, but they had sole rights to our region and seemingly refused to make an effort to supply us with parts, boats, sails, etc for almost a decade. What would you have advocated be done if the situation were the opposite, and LP sought to only supply boats and parts to dealers in North America while leaving you unserved?

  4. that's a great boat name origin, I have only ever heard the sheep version. I guess the joke is flexible.
  5. So a man walks into a bar, and sits down. He starts a conversation with an old guy next to him. The old guy has obviously had a few. He says to the man: "You see that dock out there? Built it myself, hand crafted each piece, and it's the best dock in town! But do they call me "McGregor the dock builder"? No! And you see that bridge over there? I built that, took me two months, through rain, sleet and scoarching weather, but do they call me "McGregor the bridge builder"? No! And you see that pier over there, I built that, best pier in the county! But do they call me "McGregor the pier builder"? No!" The old guy looks around, and makes sure that nobody is listening, and leans to the man, and he says: "but you bang one sheep..."

    Absolutely positively ILCA

oh wow. that's not the case in North Carolina. yikes
  12. While I understand your point and agree with it on principle, the reality at our club is that the best sailor wins, even if he has a boat in the 12xxx range, versus 197xxx and newer boats. We have never had a situation where newest equipment inherently wins, and it's true amongst all of our current fleets.

that's true, but the whole point of the stay-at-home order is not to protect the healthy people - it's to prevent the potential spread of the virus so that it won't quickly reach too many vulnerable populations, and then overwhelm the healthcare systems. So we need not think only of the people directly involved (who are generally healthy) but the people they might eventually come into contact with. That said, I think some events can be managed in ways that allow for singlehanded sailing races to occur, the competitors just need to be mindful of social distancing on shore and to some extent on the water. Given a big enough boat lot and a couple of ramps or a large beach launch area, it may very well be manageable. Or, at least no different from going to the grocery store. Also your analogy is kind of like prohibition which never actually made it illegal to drink alcohol, you just couldn't buy, sell, or possess it. It's not against the rules to sail, you just can't launch or come to shore

How far do people travel to club race?

the lake I usually sail from is about 25 minutes away, and i regularly do club racing on weekends 2 hours away. but, i have family in that city so it's not usually there and back in the same day.

Feedback - VIRTUAL REGATTA, shit rules

It’s the worst when you spend rare green coins on bonuses like auto vmg, disconnect, and then don’t get the coin back. Also there are bizarre auto tack things that happen that are super annoying
