      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. haha, from the archives, or a personal collection :)?
  2. The tax thing is interesting. We are paid by youtube, but they specify that because we are ( or were ) UK residents, we have to have our youtube earnings transferred into a UK account. So despite not living in the UK for three years, it counts as UK income and thus is taxed at HMRCs rate. I guess SLV have their income put into an Aussie account, and Delos a US account.
  3. Has she really had a boob job?
  4. They are awesome, n They are awesome and are getting better and better.
  5. We fly home once a year and that costs an arm and a leg as the Mrs is Australian. Another huge chunk of money is boat insurance . But I miss the East Coast, as it was cheap, beautiful and I could get Adnams in just about any pub.
  6. We spend about $3000 a month on our living expenses for two of us. Thats an average of costs over two and a half years. We made a video of it and stuck in on youtube, as everyone seems to want to know the answer. Obviously it can be done on less, but we rarely use marinas, and rarely eat in restaurants. Yes we could drink less beer, but I want to enjoy life afloat :).
  7. Agree totally, we gave up our corporate lives to get away from this stuff. Everyone bangs on about how lucky SLV are with this new cat. but I honestly think they've gone and made a rod for their backs Sailing should be about moving away from the stresses of modern life, not deliberately shackling yourselves. We make videos, yes, but enjoy it. Once it becomes mandatory, it's a massive pain in the ass.
  8. So sorry for the loss. Our love and thoughts are with his family.
  9. my mate swears that raising a bucket up the mast is the recognised signal for asking a bridge to be raised!! Normally i would scoff at this, but he knows more than anyone else i know about sailing.
  10. You beauty!!!! I think I've just found a real contender for our next boat. Owe you a beer for that
  11. We have been asked so many times about how we set up our boat to sail across oceans, that we thought we'd make a video about it. It was just our thought processes and not necessarily the gold standard. However it has provided us with as stress free an ocean crossing as you could hope for. I hope it helps others who are thinking of dropping their lines and sailing across oceans. Cheers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiPq1L6e6pE
  12. There are loads of free things to do in the carib. with kids. Try the cruisers nets on the VHF on the islands that have them. There always seemed to be some activity being organised.
