    Atlantic in November

"Someone Knows Something" from CBC is a great one as well. Like Serial, but stronger investigations.

    Fall Cruising on the Chesapeake

I was in St. Michaels for a wedding this past weekend and saw a weird race going on. I only caught the end, but cruising boats were coming into the harbor under sail, towing a dinghy. they would throw an anchor over, not waiting for it to set, load someone in the dinghy who would row to a dock by the maritime museum. It looked like that was how you finished, and two of the boats came down to a rowing race. It looked like fun! Glad to see Chesapeake folks still going strong this time of year.

    Ultimate cruising boat?

does it come with its own logs, or do you just chop down some trees and shove them under the boat?

    General fucking recall

I like the boat up on the pin side with the black jib and white main, who is a full boat-length past the line before the start horn, but doesn't seem to make any attempt to go back around, presumably hoping no one noticed.

    General fucking recall

Haha I saw that too. She thought the one minute was the start and they are just killing the fleet.

This video is absolutely amazing. The blood-curdling scream at @20 sec as the teal boat comes back down on the line on port tack is my favorite part.

Girl with patreon account goes sailing in hot place

I don't know that it is fair to disparage them for sailing not being their passion. I think making videos, blogs, and social media are their passions. I think the sailing (or whatever else they do) takes a backseat and is there to provide content and gain followers. Like two leg said - try this adventure and see if we can get followers and an income from it. I guess not all that different from what authors, artists, photographers, film makers have been doing; just a new medium. For me, sailing is the passion. When I am on the water, the last thing I think to do is record a video or take photos for social media so others can see me doing it. I am not against it, I just get caught in the moment and it is not a priority for me. I will say that most friends our age that we take out sailing spend the whole time building Instagram and snapchat stories so people see what they are doing. It is because they don't care about the sailing, and care more about their social media look. It is their hobby. They are enjoying their time, just in a different way and for different reasons. I imagine for someone to make one of these youtube channels they must have that same mentality. More interest in how the experience looks than in the experience. I don't like the idea of having to live my life in front of people hoping they like it and pay for, so despite having to work full time and only sail when I can, I wouldn't ever want to trade places with the vloggers.

Another one bites the dust. I am morbidly intrigued by watching these go full cycle. Especially when they try to carry it some other millennial work-phobic genre (van life, perpetual travel, blah blah), but their name is clearly sailing related. My all time favorite was "Monday Never". They were early in the genre and weren't, seemed like nice people, but you had to power through the holier-than-thou blathering about about getting out of the rat race. I have to imagine that the irony of the name "Monday Never" has to sting as they shuffle to their day jobs Monday mornings like the rest of us. Cruel, I know, but super funny to me!
  13. it's growing on me. Anyone know what they go for out of curiosity?
  14. It is not a pretty boat by any stretch. But it does look like it would be a ton of fun to spend a few months on down in the Caribbean. And in my opinion, looks better than the cats that are ubiquitous down there.
  15. I need to have my cradle legs adjusted. Does anyone know a welder in the NYC or Westchester are that does good work at a reasonable price? Legs can be dropped off at a shop, no transo needed.
