    The 2018 Golden Globe Race

Prayers for both sailors. It will be interesting to learn what happened to both. Like the original GGR this one may be attracting the interest of non-sailors as it becomes more like an ongoing traffic accident.

    The 2018 Golden Globe Race

I have been enjoying the updates here more so than the GGR site. As those of you who have done open ocean racing can attest, once you do it, it changes you and you hunger for more! i saw the Crowhurst documentary and while his story was tragic, it didn’t take away from the amazing feats of RNJ and BM. The Southern Ocean will test more than the fragile windvanes they’ve deployed! This thread at least gives me the chance to live vicariously through the updates till my next venture into open water! Thanks all!

VOR Leg 11 Gothenburg to The Hague

Hard to believe it’s almost over! Being an American I was rooting for V11HR but too many bad things happened. What an epic event! The Golden Globe Race will seem like a race to watch the paint dry by comparison...lol

In! This race will be fun to watch.

VOR Leg 8 Itajaí to Newport

This close to the finish and light winds! Sounds familiar. Vestas has some speed.....could be a crazy finish!

VOR Leg 8 Itajaí to Newport

Looking at the tracker it appears Vestas hasn’t had to change course in a long while. Straight and fast. Are they all fighting an opposing current?

VOR Leg 8 Itajaí to Newport

Right on Paps! Go Vestas go!
  9. Woods Rider

VOR Leg 8 Itajaí to Newport

It does shed a light on Vestas’ nightmare off Hong Kong. On another note, it’s good to see all seven boats at sea doing what they’re meant to be doing, hauling ass!

VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

https://www.soundingsonline.com/voices/where-danger-lives Mario Vittone raises a question I pondered myself...

Don’t the know SeaTow would tow me that far...lol!

VOR Leg 8 Itajaí to Newport

Do you guys think Vestas will be back for this leg?

VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

Thanks for sharing Libby’s blog. Subscribed. Due to day-job-itis I’m forced to miss our next offshore race a near 600 nm to Mexico in a couple weeks. Like many of you here it sure gets in your blood and following the VOR is a bit of a fix. In the worst offshore racing at night with zero moon and a very confused gulf stream sea state, we had to do 30 minute helm changes. Fun!

    Go Vestas Go!
