      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

    Changeup again.
  2. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

I think as has been said by others that DF is going to do all it can to keep Mapre as close as possible and then take a lead before they hit the ice exclusion zone where there are few passing zones and where, on Leg 3, Mapre outmaneuvered DF. Charles is still smarting over their poor arrival into HK and, last year's mast breakage. IMO, if that had not happened DF would have won that leg.
  3. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

50 min of the previously "live" East Cape footage is now on the VOR Facebook page. It says "Volvo Ocean Race "was live." Posted 3 hours ago.
  4. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

    Ha, no!
  5. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

    Ah. And the twins?
  6. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

    What about Martine?
  7. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

Well, fuck. I was on the site a good hour before and got nada live.

Obviously it is very very early in the race. However, Dongfeng is now in the lead (barely, in front of Brunel) on the tracker, where she wants and needs to be. DF's goal always has been to get the lead early (tried at the start as usual in this Leg and almost did right before the last mark) and stay there. Mapre seems to have just enough extra boat speed or an extra gear so that DF doesn't seem to do as well when behind. They have a group of highly skilled racers who get along well and have worked long and hard together and I think they have a good chance to take this leg and the race. My second bet would be on Mapre and Steif's list with the Jack/Azko caveat. I don't think SkallyWitt will be able to put his flip-flops where his mouth is.
  9. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

How were any of you able to see the dock out? I was poised and hitting "Live" on the VOR site/Facebook, etc.well before the start time but got nothing until the posted start time and then all I got was the filler stuff and then right into Andy Gold with a short video tour of Auckland, then live 1:00 min before the start.
  10. Luna Rossa Challenge. AC 36

PB said in an interview with he and Tuke in Auckland yesterday or the day before that he was in discussions with ETNZ (amongst other things). That is all he said on the subject. I can't remember where I saw the interview: either on the VOR site, or was posted on Ocean Racing Anarchy Auckland to Itajai thread.

DWitt continues to be the only skipper who takes shots at other skippers/crew, once again. In his interview, he commented about how Mapre has "five guys who are back again trying to win the race" and "Charles is stressed getting out of bed in the morning." I hope they kick his ass. Fiji BItter: Martine doesn't have short hair; her long hair is simply pulled back off her face. It is actually easier for women to have long hair, except keeping it washed, as you can pull it off your face/back/out of the way.

SS: The VOR coverage in China was crap for anyone not in China. And while Dongfeng may be sponsored by a Chinese company, it only has 3 Chinese sailors who rotate, one at a time, on and off the boat, and with Horace coming back on, in fact only 2 of the 3 have sailed during this race so far. The Team director is, I think French (Bruno). There are perhaps 2 shore team personnel involved in communications and media who are Chinese. There may be more; I am just going on the pictures and bios that used to be posted on the VOR site under Teams. It is now gone. I am a huge Dongfeng fan, for the last and this edition and followed their progress in between them. I think their mission is great. But actual Chinese personnel involved in the race itself, on the boat, is very minimal.
  13. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

the truth: Where did you get the information that Stu is going to be on Dongfeng on Leg 7? He has not been in Auckland and is not in the latest Team Photo. Someone would have to leave for him to rejoin the team. I am surprised he is not there and would be disappointed were he not on the Leg as this type of racing is supposedly his specialty (he was "Magic Stu, remember in Leg 2); maybe he will. We should know soon.
  14. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

There is a survey to now on the VOR web site under News (I was checking for crew lists). It is really stupid. It is so blatantly looking for feedback for sponsors. But at least at the end there is a box in which you (I did) can unload about what you think of the VOR and I used that as my opportunity to blast the shitty coverage and lack of information provided by the VOR; I also used that space to praise the Raw Content; the Race Experts, and mention it is virtually impossible to communicate with the VOR. I noted that, at the outset of the race, Mark Turner was actively on the VOR Facebook page and was making comments and answering questions. As soon as he left, so did that opportunity. Now you can ask questions through the Live Twitter Feed or Lie Facebook during e.g. the imports, and sometimes the Race Experts spiels, but they ignore stuff and it is not really useful. There does not appear to be a word limit.
  15. VOR Leg 7 Auckland to Itajai

You're right. Nobody wanted to be there. However, I did watch the 115 second version on the VOR site which was, no surprise, not illuminating. And reconfirmed my view that Wittster is an asshole.
