The thread we were working was about a Merit 22 and the need to eliminate any mast rake

Loads of 7.9 here I needed the dagger board. Sounds like we are following the same path. Let me know how you make out I am hauled for the winter

Nicely put. Although this is my second year with boat this makes sense I use a 110 and a 80 Genoa I have set boat up for single hand. And can reef easily my problem is the traveler. I may have to put in the cockpit

Question is could a Bermuda rig be used. The boat is basically a J24 trailer sailer

Boat moves nicely in light to moderate air good idea to reef main when it gets 15-16 knots it’s a masthead rig after three years mast is now vertical weather helm is managebl I can keep up with most 30footers i also run an asymmetrical

3 rd year with my merit 22 loose footed main make mast as vertical as possible boat seems twitchy no matter what you do Zero mast rake seems best put Vang set up on lazy jack hook to rear pulpit wise to eliminate head stay sag

I have the same merit 22 issue i am slowly moving the mast too a true vertical position. I think this boat does best with zero mast rake. However an adjustable lazy jack hooked to the rail serves to eliminate head stay sag going upwind
