You are absolutely correct. I have to wonder what he’s going to do for a career now. Moving forward how many people would do business with him as a vendor or customer in the sailing industry.

I agree and makes you wonder if there’s more to the story. It seems like from the beginning they targeted the Matt (Fake) Wake boats. From the fact it happened at a big national event to the fact we are hearing more and more rumors about Sturgis and unhappy customers. I wonder if he crossed someone. Or it could just be my conspiracy side over analyzing the situation. haha

It would be Sturgis that’s held accountable. With Implied Warranty the dealer/retailer/distributor are all on the hook.

Implied warranty would be the easiest case. With this you wouldn’t have to prove it was deliberate. Unfortunately I don’t think he has much left to take. I guess we could all have fractional ownership of his Fareast.

Yes, we own a boat, I’ve explained the entire situation earlier in the thread. As a matter of fact you also sent me a few PMs asking about our situation.

There is still some blood left, I have gotten more than 1 pm saying he has a waterfront home and a brand new Far East boat. Seems that his fellow club members don’t hold him in the highest regard.

I want to know what connection he has with Simmons Boat Works. They actually have a pic of the Sturgis trailer on the website. Do we think he reopened under his employees name?

Right after the incident someone reported Zim. The class checked out a number of hills and they passed. He not only completely changed the construction methods his hulls were close to 30# lighter. Big difference between walking the line and jumping across with both feet.

I agree, his plan wasn’t to go out of business, but to build a better mousetrap. Unfortunately it was also an illegal mousetrap. Let’s be clear all the builders know that bagging the boats is illegal. He thought he could get away with it and build a faster boat. As long as he wasn’t caught he would be able to build a faster cheaper hull. Well he was caught and payed the price. Unfortunately so did the 30 owners of the 49 boats.

Are you saying Simmons Boat Works is owned by Matt Wake just not on paper?

    Sturgis Boat Works unreachable?

No, FE is who PS2000 subs out the C420 builds to. He is also the FE dealer for the states. FE just built what was ordered. PS/Sturgis/Wake are the responsible parties as well as the same entity.

    Sturgis Boat Works unreachable?

Sturgis and the builder are both owned by the same guy. They have taken down their website, disconnected their phone, and never returned an email. How much more proof do you need?

    Sturgis Boat Works unreachable?

The Class punished the builder here, and 50 owners, Laser covered it up and punished every owner except for the Ausie boats. I feel it was the only way to do it and hurt the fewest owners. Let’s remember PS2000 is the one who caused this.

Was glad to hear Matt was racing at his club this weekend. Perhaps he can reach out to the people he screwed and stop being a bitch.
