    Help! Henderson 30 vs FT-10

IT seemed like the Hendo also had less pinched aft quarters than the Farr 30. Wider stern.

    Help! Henderson 30 vs FT-10

Hendo has a sweet cockpit. Roomy, good design/layout.

    Help! Henderson 30 vs FT-10

We bought a Hendo about a year ago. Extremely fast downwind. 18+ knots downwind on the 2020 Hook race on Lake Michigan. Absolute speed demon. Love the articulating sprit. Runners are a pain but make a big difference in main trim and headstay tension upwind. The boat needs lots of crew to be competitive upwind, however. Solid build. We are very happy with ours so far!

    Henderson 30?

So you still own your Hendo? Just curious why you keep it on Erie?

    Runner Block Replacements

Thanks Silent Bob! They are the gas pedal for sure! Might just try them, maybe pad them, and see how it goes. They are great looking blocks, and do work well under load. If you think about it a 2-1/4” radius versus 7/8” is a huge difference in turning radius.

    Runner Block Replacements

Yeah, good idea with the element blocks. Those things have a large breaking strength rating since they have no ball bearings. I’ve used those on another boat and really liked the design, and the price!

    Runner Block Replacements

Have a newly acquired Henderson 30. Going through a full refit. Wondering about the running backstay blocks. Boat came with Harken 57mm high load blocks. This style of block has rope guides on both sides that help contain the line and rotate the block into the proper position, thus making them rather large. I’ve seen other boats remove these and use anti-friction rings. Several problems come to mind With the rings: 1: Small turning radius 2: Rope memory always about the same on the ring. But, they are lightweight, won’t bang your head, and don’t do much damage if they happen to hit the back of your newly painted carbon fiber mast. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Henderson 30?

Cool. I have sailed over on the Michigan side quite a bit as well. Traverse City, Frankfort, Harbor Springs. All great places to sail. The Hendo will be on the WI side.

Des Moines. I think the boat will be in Winthrop Harbor for the first part of the summer and then up North in the Green Bay area the last half of the summer

Rocketman here! We did buy the Hendo from Seattle. The boats currently in Iowa going through a full refit before heading to Lake Michigan. I am super impressed with the build quality on these boats. Very stiff, built like a tank. Can't wait for a the first sail this year. Pulled the engine the other day, pretty corroded. Going with a new Honda 9.9. Also stripped the entire interior for a power wash and cleanup. Pulled the sprit out for inspection, looked good, but needs a boot to keep water out ( I have a design in mind). Mast and boom are getting stripped down and repainted with linear poly. New lines, new sails (90, 100, 155, Main, A2 and Code Zero, Ouch!). Still have to inspect the rudder assembly but it appears to turn easily with no wiggle. Lot's to do!
  15. Just bought a Henderson 30 from Seattle in September. Our new Hendo will be on Lake Michigan for 2020, dry sailed. Looking forward to some killer downwind rides on the high rollers! Planning on the Queens Cup, The Hook, 100 miler, Red Fox Regatta and a few others... New 3di’s are on the way. Can’t wait!!
