Was wondering about that until I looked back at the tracker... Stief beat me to it.

And people have gotten seriously hurt trying that. -

This was apparently an early point of contention in Mum and Dad's marriage. When thoroughly enjoying a dinner Mum had cooked, Dad would enthuse "That's not bad!" and Mum would be... not happy. -
If Pip plays her cards right, she can probably give the other two something to worry about. Her speed is all VMG, while the others will need an extra tack or two. Sadly another midnight finish it seems.

Egad! ... it's like Wayne's World... in middle age... on a boat... with (inexplicably) emojis. -

If* that were my epitaph, I'd reckon I did OK in life. Sam never struck me as either a genius or a nut. I think his health issues might have inspired him to "go small and go now," so he keeps the fettling to whatever will get him out there. He's like a lot of the sailing YT channels I check in with. They're not great cinema, but more like postcards from old acquaintances... "Look, a postcard from Joe - seems he's still sailing that old Colander 25 round the Baltic. Spent last summer in the Alands. Goodonim". *Notice I say "if." My actual epitaph is more likely to say "cranky introverted singlehanding basterd spent most of his time out on that boat. Who the hell was he again?" -
My first thought was that he'd joined the van-life crowd.

Just a guess, but it sounds like you're in one of those wonderful parts of the globe where they don't spread tons and tons of salt on the roads every winter.

Is it possible they were aiming for some sort of homage to (and/or parody of) one of those "found footage" style of film? Like maybe the Blair Witch project, but in a boat? -
Totally off topic, but the Ecstasy of Gold scene in GBU might just be the greatest bit of film-making in all of cinema.

I watched this one popped up in my suggestions a couple of days ago. The title had me expecting some sort of insight from the experience. But alas, it was just a shitshow. -

I wonder if they'll slowly go insane in the tropics like Harrison Ford in the Mosquito Coast. More likely, the fridge will come loose in a knockdown, and they'll have a big rectangular hole in the hull like American Magic. -

Maybe she's moistened and lobbed a scimitar at him? It seems the ex-van-life crowd are going to be the newest plague upon the oceans of the world. -

It seems to be the new trend in sailing* yootoobing. "Ship of Theseus gets a refit in a muddy place". *edit: Well, sailboat yootoobing. There's very little actual sailing, of course. -
Oh. For a second there, I thought Dylan was swearing about the hassle of dropping his masts. But then, I grew up around a lot of Quebecois Chalice!
-
Kinda nervous for Maxime. It looks like he can squeak it home in time IF nothing goes wrong. Drop the stick, or hit an OFNI, and he'll be a sitting duck.
-
The look on his face speaks volumes. He spoke of it being a really hard race this time, and I'm sure he feels a sense of relief, but seems to be drinking in the welcome with almost a sense of wistful farewell.
-
I think he's just under 24 hours behind Charlie before correction (where have I heard that before? ), so that's eight finishers in 24 hrs.
-
I think they said something about the conditions being too rough for live shots? Seb Josse seems to be radio-ing in from some sort of boat, but he sounded like he was underwater (hopefully not ) Edit to add: Tracker shows him across the line.

I'm not getting a lot out of the French Live with no visuals, but I think someone just compared JLC to Keith Richards. Kinda works.
-
My apologies
-
JLC at about 135 nm and 17 kts. So about eight hours sailing and in almost exactly 24 hrs behind Dalin before time adjustment?
-
I think everyone up to and including JLC should all cram onto the top of the podium for a group photo. Social distancing be damned.

I was certainly grumbling last night after staying up late hoping to see Bestaven cross the line. But with some sleep and now coffe I have to admit, I wouldn't have been willing to be the guy doing the on the water reporting. They'd have had to stay out on a boat in cold, wet, foggy, bumpy sea's until 5 am, and hoping not to run out of gas. All so I could sit in my nice comfy armchair and watch.

I can't imagine another gybe will make much difference at this point. Just point the bow at the finish and experience the moment.
