This event has been incredibly close. Talk about lead changes: At the head of the fleet now Charlie Dalin (Apivia) has been in first place 178 times since November 8th when the race started. Sail-World An amazing edition of the Vendée Globe.

Bestaven, Le Cam and more Yannick Bestaven (Maître CoQ IV): "I no longer have an intact boat and I have a lot of technical problems. When I rounded Cape Horn, I caught a big depression. I crashed violently which ravaged the whole front deck of the boat. I no longer have a pulpit, no furling system and there are some sails that I can no longer use. I tried to repair as best I could, to keep holding on, but I need a lot of sail changes and small weather sails that I couldn't use. All this added to the difficulty of crossing the Doldrums. But I'll try to finish in the best possible way".

He did miss one and almost put his boat 100m below.

You forgot the part about the seagull leaving behind a bunch of yellow Ines when it broke off. Seagull breaks off, boat suddenly slows, capsizing as a result. So it was the fight control system (aka speedo) that broke.

Hey Clean, what ever happened to your buddy Bora Gulari, and why isn't he playing this game?

Appears Armel is finally looking for some new playmates... 430 nm in the past 24 hrs, and in the correct direction too.

Poland’s Karol Jablonski and other older sailors do just fine at apparent wind sailing, and at faster speeds than these AC blokes.

Professor Plum, in the Hull, with a lead pipe.

Why unexpected? Was anyone's head outside the boat?
-
Can one of y'all please put some yellow lines around a picture of the hole, estimate its dimensions and compare them to the dimensions of the specified battery? It could end a lot of speculation. (It is beyond my capabilities.)
-
Head in a hole would be a more appropriate title if the intent was to discuss what may have lead to a hole in the boat.

No mention of software issues on LR, but their early tack away from the left boundary when left was clearly favored, followed by a boundary violation on the right side makes me wonder if their data were skewed. May never know as it would be bad form to bitch about it now.

After the capsize. Initial call was right mark.

Are there links to the audio feeds? I would like to hear what the Italians had to say while this was unfolding.
-
And review tactical decision making.
-
In that case, it should be a fast tow in.
-
Cannot connect to the FB live feed. Is there another?

Why does Deano grip the wheel so hard? Does not show confidence or comfort. So far, in the Prada Cup, my favorite helmsperson is Francesco Bruni. Calm, smart, love listening to this guy.

Exactly. Huffin and puffin trying to pump like a young buck. Ain't happening. Somebody needs to have their head out of the boat. No fault but theirs. But damn, ETNZ designed an indestructible mast section. How and the heck did that mast not break?
