      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  4. J70, cheating and pros

Lasers are different from a J70. I got a laser truck to myself (21boats) and cherry picked the best hull, uppers, lowers, blades, etc. If you have the chance. Its better than getting a shit boat, out of a box. And btw 4 out of the 21 were good. 1 better than others. When you have no rules other than don't touch things. It invites trouble. I've seen it in the past. I'm about to see it in the future with the Viper class. Current rules say you cant touch anything. The new boats we just got don't measure in. Once we Hit something and have to repair the keel. Then we HAVE to tear it down and make it fit the class template. What's faster? I don't know. But leaving things open is Inviting issues... To many Grey Areas. I blame this on the Class officers that should have dealt with this YEARS AGO!!! You can poke at the builders a bit. But, no. They build them. The owners decide how the rules should be. The guys that got kicked for cheating. Yeah they most likely knew better. but still, if you cant touch it, why are guys sanding the keels During the measurement????? I mean really??? Half the class probably is scared to wetsand anything. The other half is trying to make it work right, and or fixing builder problems. To many Grey Areas... Obviously there are WAY to many Grey areas.... There's a whole lot of, Not making sense, going on in the J70. I'm glad I have a M24 where Nothing makes fucking sense...
  5. Irma

Rod, I hope to God you moved from the last time I was at your house.... If not. Dude get yr ass up here.... you know how to reach me. . GL.
  6. Hahaha. In some cases, that might be true. But I cant figure out who you would be talking about.
  7. Short term moorage for Melges 24

I have left my M24 in the water for roughly 9-10 days at a time. Stuff does start to grow a little, not to much to clean with a rag. Certainly not barnacles. But a little slim will attach. And is easy to wipe off. I have no idea if it will keep it clean for 2 weeks at a time. That might be pushing the scope of the product. We are down here in the Gulf coast with Brackish water. All I can say is give it a shot and see what happens. Just be prepared for it to not work as well as you like. Its Not an AF paint.
  8. Hurricane Harvey - watch out, Texas

  11. 3 masted schooner for charter????

Yeah I know. That's what I'm afraid of. I'm guessing 30k-50 for the month if I can find him something. But I'm digging everywhere. And hoping you guys have can help
  12. Ok here's a Very odd request. I need a 3 masted, wooden schooner. To charter for the month of Oct. Its for a Movie. The exP and I went to school together, and he tasked me with finding him the right boat. Requirements, 70+ ft, 3 masted, wooden, semi fancy, and charter able. Any ideas??? Size can be a little smaller. But... hell If I can get him to drop his coin for the perfect fit , why not.? Oh and the location will be in the upper Gulf of Mex. We need it for the Month of OCT. This is not a joke. I'm trying to remember all the boats in Lauderdale that might fit the bill, even the ones in KW. I am afraid the KW boats are starting their season and wont bail on that. So. Any ideas?????? I've contacted a few boats, but they are metal and it shows. I'm really drawing a blank on this. So let me know. BTW the movie is gonna be like the shining. But on a boat... GO! I'm already behind. pm with serious vessels...

  15. Melges 24 Good/bad series build

I have no true idea if there were bad boats or not. But I heard it was the 200 series. Granted I have No idea. I have seen a high 200 boat do well. So it may just be a myth...
