How large of a role does mainsail control play during maneuvers?
TANGO QUEBEC replied to sailfly's topic in America's Cup Anarchy
Yes, as seen on a number of Grand Prix boats for a reasonable amount of time now, deck mounted cameras looking up from cockpit floor and middle of the foredeck. In the Med TP fleet, only Provezza differs as she has thicker stripes down low, mast mounted camera looking down. -
This got a run out in December.

Well, balls. Be interested to hear what the issue was as their trip down there was bloody good shakedown.

And married to Billy Bob.

That's Warrior 21 now, no? Griffin Spinney. Last posted online August last year, does that answer your question @TalonF4U He's on Instagram as minitransat_usa574

Svea is still on the hard here in Palma, most of the crew laid off almost reminiscent of J Boats back in the glory years, summers spent racing, winters laid up. Topaz is back after a long refit in Holland directly after the crash, had the owner aboard recently I believe. A few Js sat here, Endeavour and Lionheart too, most of them were expecting to be in the Caribbean this winter and then off to NZ for the Cup.

They do...but in Porto CERVO, it's straight to the Clipper at 24.99kts!

One of the biggest things that bothered me delivering 72s offshore was the fact you could lay on your bunk back by the traveller and see all the way to the bow, no sealed bulkheads, great for inshore, washing down and shifting shit inside but still gives me shivers in a lump offshore. We hid for 3 days in Cagliari coming back from Middle Sea to Palma on the MOMO because of weather. Leaving again was fun though, bursts to 22-25kts boatspeed with a hollow leech, hounds hoist main and high clewed delivery jib, solid 15-17kts boats speed the rest of the time and WET on deck, those JV boats are flat. Inside was nice and dry though, solid job on the waterproofing.

Sorcha has done Middle Sea, Fastnet and 600. MOMO, now Vesper went on to win class at Middle sea 2018 also had a good showing at the Fastnet. Current 72s are too inshore oriented to do the Hobart, Bella Mente tried to sink during the leg from Antigua up to Barbuda during the 600 a few years ago, all the sails were floating and the bowman was knee deep below due to water ingress whilst reaching. That was an ignominious race for the 72s, Sorcha pulled out due to bowsprit issues, Proteus dropped the rig practicing and Bella went semisubmersible mode.

As much as Ineos winning SailGP, still aint the Cup. And yes, I remember Dean was involved. I have never mentioned his record, it was aimed at the SailGP reference.

Not to mention that ETNZ won both the 2009 and 2010 MedCup, Origin however...Ineos/BAR by another, former name failed to win a race. But that was in monos and so long ago now....

Nice tribute Hobot, a truly great leader and pilot, not without his flaws, but few of the great are.

That was truly a Holy Shit moment...been around rigs and rigging going bang, but nothing on that scale.

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-55117704 Bye bye Dave, you may have been best known as Darth Vader, but I remember you as The Green Cross Code Man. He visited my school in the early 80's, we were fascinated to see his robot buddy 'Droid' lying on it's side in the back of his Ford Cortina Estate car. -

It's a good listen for sure, great guests, good stories and an inside knowledge into the industry on many levels. A healthy Mates disrespect for each other AND for the Aussies, they have their own Beer! The episodes leading to the Brian Carlin episode are great when boys from the Vestas park up chat about the incident and the infamous life raft incident...Brian is great telling his side.
