      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Gitana 17 on Foils

They way I heard it the cat would be faster unless you had to have the hulls in the water due to seastate if the tri has to come off the foils in the same conditions it would be faster, at least that's the way I heard it
  2. Best Helmsman in AC35 so far

Who has the most wins so far?
  3. new mini, who says it needs to be beautifull

If they weren't clearly better, sail area limited rules wouldn't have been using them for the last 40 years starting with the Little Cup boats. This wing is nowhere close to the efficiency of a c-class or AC wing. It is 'only' a variable camber 1 element wing. It lacks the slot for the boundary layer control which enables hi high angles of attack without stalling. This is more like a flap setup.I think we can agree on that, but will this softwing be more efficient than a standard mini sail plan.....

If they weren't clearly better, sail area limited rules wouldn't have been using them for the last 40 years starting with the Little Cup boats. That's hard wings right? Just wondering if the complexity of trying to do it as a softwing so it is reefable works out better. None of the big french multi's have done it yet....
  5. new mini, who says it needs to be beautifull

Is there anymore information about the wing sail they are using? Is it their own design ? The theory of these being better still doesn't seem to have been proven on real sailing yachts and maybe all the other tech like foils could be making the difference (if they prove to be fast)
  6. Wooden boats thread

Do you have details on the yacht? Looks beautiful!
  7. Paint job for a dinghy

Probably a bit of both, I am in NZ and cant seem to find the kiss cote stuff anywhere
  8. Paint job for a dinghy

I recently bought a dinghy that has been painted with the white durapox undercoat on the hull only, the old owner tells me for the best prep before big regattas he used to rub it down with 800grit and then use the Harken Hullkote polish. What do others think about this? I was wondering about having it repainted with a proper high gloss top coat, but also read on these forums that maybe just sanding it to 400grit with that kiss cote stuff might be just as good?
