      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

A Scow racer, Melges 24's, Laser, and big boats in Chicago.
  1. Melges 40

After racing on a TP52 for 3 seasons the answer to that question is yes.
  2. 65- by 32-foot catamaran 3200sqft of living space

Looks like old HR won't be hanging around Loch Lomand anymore. He has a Foreign Warrant/Hold which means he's wanted out of Marion County or the State of California, Plus an $11,000 bail. If he doesn't have money for $10 hanks he sure as hell doesn't have a grand for bail. Failure to appear & driving on a suspended license is just a misdemeanor though.

Anybody in the 190 Ibs ballpark want to do bow for a CMRC Spring Invitational boat this weekend? P.M me.

Since Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are actually one body of water we need it to rain on both lakes. At least every other day for the past two weeks it has rained on the GL's. Lake Michigan/Huron went up 3 cm (1.1") in March. The snow melt is up in the U.P and Canada and goes mostly into Superior which drains into the north channel and then into Lake Huron. Anywhere we can get it the GL's need it. Rain, Snow, Drunken sailors bladders. Remember no beer brewed with GL's water. That means no Miller Lite!

What are we filling it with?

Was Q by TK out here. Drumbeat the Soto 40 was a Q too. Must have been a good selling point.
  8. Ker 43 Ptarmigan

What is that boat flying? Q or the blue dot?

Al Gore said we won't have to worry about ice anymore. What the Hell !

Frostbiting this Sunday? Lots of ice in Belmont.

Lake level is way low. Down nearly 20" today from June '12. February and March are always the yearly lows. Pretty cool interactive Great Lakes dashboard

Just my speculation that it’s the new Drumbeat. The Soto 40 went out to Nova Scotia at the end of the 2011 season. I also believe that the Drumbeat contingency tried to charter the DK 46 First Light for the 2012 season but it never came to fruition. Matt B is probably in the know. No pressure to spill the beans or anything....

    Macatawa Bay The new Drumbeat?

This is just my observation College sailing is more popular and competitive now than it has ever been. It’s hard to find a school on or near the water that doesn’t have a sailing team or least a club. Even the landlocked schools that are miles from any body of water seem to have a club team. The economy sucks! I have half a dozen buddies with Bachelor of Science or Art degrees from good schools that are underemployed or unemployed. The college educated 21-28 demographic has been hit hard by the Obama economy. Who in that demographic would go to a boat show if there was nothing at the show they could afford? I’ve been a ninja (no income, no job, no assets) for the past 2 years and only recently have I found employment. I’m so grateful to be working but I sure as hell don’t make enough money to buy a new or used boat. When the economy turns around for the better then maybe all of us ninjas will have a little bit of discretionary income to spend on boats. I also feel like it is really hard for an outsider who has money to spend to break into the sport in Chicago. I commend Columbia yacht club for its skipjacks program. More organization in that matter will certainly be good for the Chicago sailing scene. Just my 2cents.
