      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Stink Pot vs Washington State Ferry

My Grandfather taught me the most important rule when it comes to "right of way"...the right of way is given, not taken.
  2. Best sailboat to sail the Atlantic to Europe next May/June 2017

  3. Surveyor for boat lying in Marblehead

Paul Shaw out of Warwick, RI
  4. 2016 Block Island Race Week ... who's going?

I think we should bring Mystiere out there! Or perhaps we can convince Vin to go out again with the Coconut. BJ would have to leave now in order to get back in time to be the mother ship.
  5. B 36.7 vs C&C 110

Have you looked at the X41 repo available in Newport Beach?
  6. Jeanneau Sunfast 3600

Lots of comments in this thread about boats being used for different specific purposes...shorthanded distance racing, weeknight cruise-racer, etc. Obviously one has to find the right boat for the type of sailing they plan on doing 90% of the time. But if you're looking for something that will tick off many of the boxes (cruising with the family on weekends, weeknight beer can racing or shorthanded distance stuff, take a look at the Dufour 36. She won Sailing World's Best Crossover Boat of the Year two years ago. Worth a look. Retail all in between $250 and $275k. PHRF 78 in New England getting 6 seconds from the J/109 and beating them boat for boat most of the time. www.northstaryachtsales.com/dufour-36P.php
