      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Uglyboat Admiration Society Hang Out

Looks to me like a Van de Stadt .... maybe a 34 but more likely a Carribean 40 albeit much bastadised.
  2. Womby:

It appears that I am back on SailNet. Not sure what you did but it worked. Many thanks for the assistance.

    Bob P.

  3. "Heaven Can Wait" 24 hour Yacht Race

Go on with you ... leave the shit on board and join the sluggards at the rear of the field. or at least wave as you go by Wrinkly. I hate to think what we should have taken off but at least we got rid of the towed generator and spare impellors. Guess the outboard and the zodiac can be left on the dock, liferaft, maybe even the spare propellors but other than that, nah bugger it. We'll just slip along in quiet desperation. Must say though I am looking forward to this. Should be a bit of fun but a bit embarassing if we finish behind Windchaser.
  4. Sailing Anarchists Affected by Cancer

and so , in the middle of all this the Catherine herself contributes to our Heaven Can Wait campaign ...... How good is that ? Sod it , this is pretty much a duplicate of post over at CA but what the fuck. I'm seriously blown away by such an act. :) Again, thanks MSG. http://www.heavencanwait.com.au/
  5. "Heaven Can Wait" 24 hour Yacht Race

Speaking from the blunt end of the field ... Sail changes ? What da ya mean sail changes ? Shoot, I'm still bummed out to find that we can't use the auto pilot. Piss and Wind promised me the HCW was just a long dark twilight. Is it at all obvious that this is my first race ?
  6. Mini tug project...

Irrelevent really but she is a beauty. Guy who built her actually took the lines off the real thing. She even has a working ships bell that he cast from a tiny block of brass. Radio controlled of course. His party trick is to play tug to the various full size boats at the Tasmanian Wooden Boat Festival.
  7. Mini tug project...

we could always do an homage to Phil Bolger ....A Folding Toot ....
  8. Older well known IOR Boats

Absolutely no idea whether she was IOR or not but does anyone know what happened to Jack Rooklyn's old Ballyhoo ? I know she was sold (USA ??) and renamed Mistress Quickly but that was years ago. I remember years back being passed by her and one of the Apollos on Sydney Harbour as they headed up past the old wedding cake, was a lovely sight. The Apollo in question was the (Adams ??) designed Apollo that Muir bought prior to Windward Passage and which was wrecked up near Newcastle.
  9. "Heaven Can Wait" 24 hour Yacht Race

and I can guarantee that if we had been able to make it then there probably would have been one more to tow. Windchaser might well have had some sisterly company.
  10. "Heaven Can Wait" 24 hour Yacht Race

A myriad of congratulations to those sterling folk from Tiger Town on winning the Club Challenge. A certain former capitane of the BSC cruising division tells me it was a long tiring haul but worth the doing. As for the tosser who put the lovely Windchaser aground. Tsk Tsk. Thank Christ it wasn't a rig failure. Look forward to seeing the pics. Well done all.
  11. "Heaven Can Wait" 24 hour Yacht Race

I should explain. Every time the Cruising Div of the BSC organise anything as a group the Heavens do not so much Wait as Open.
  12. "Heaven Can Wait" 24 hour Yacht Race

Going on past experience that simply means the weather is going to be appalling.
