Annapolis Performance Sailing - OFFICIALLY DEAD

There are two really good ones. One used to be a food truck. The other only takes cash. 1. El Cabrito 2. Taqueria Juquilita

West Marine. Coincidentally this was also the first winter APS didn't have a rigging sale. Is it a connection?

Annapolis Performance Sailing - OFFICIALLY DEAD

The more I think about it, and looked at their site to buy something in support, It feels like a bit of a Covid/Hogan cover excuse as the reason. The stock is not there even if they were staying open. No new items, no size runs, etc.

Annapolis Performance Sailing - OFFICIALLY DEAD

No reason for an ad. Don't work there. The news is that a store most people have bought something at over the 25+ years is closing. It was a courtesy to let others know they have a sale if you need anything.

THE IMOCA thread, single/double handed & TOR

Every time I think about these awesome boats I really do feel like Red Bull missed a sponsorship opportunity. I mean if Red Bull gives you wings, it seems like it would love to be on a flying boat. I know they have sponsored other boats in the past, but these are amazing animals.

    Radio controlled sailing

I wound up making my own sails during this pandemic. I traced the stock sails onto the cardboard they ship in between. Then cut the template and traced the template while cutting the sail material. V1 came out pretty well, but not perfect. I am satisfied for the time being, but will work on v2 after I use these for a while. It was certainly more expensive and time consuming than buying them, however, thought it was a pretty cool project. Bought Icarex from a Kite supplier, and then found insignia tape from another company and went at it. While more expensive, I also have more material to make future sets of sails.

I wouldn't use the mainsail rings. The topping lift gets caught in the rings at times causing you to have to come back to the dock. Just tie them.

It really isn't hard to give good service. It always amazes me how many companies just fail at it. My 65 broke the gooseneck on the first sail. My 95 sails are missing grommets. Their QC is not there.

    Toilet Paper

Semi-monthly. I haven't been in a month. I live down the street from a store. It is amazing how many people are there daily, and I hear people on the streets still saying they go once a week. Let the absurdity continue.

    Robotic Marks

Saw an ad on Facebook for the Robotic Mark https://www.marksetbot.com/. Thought they were interesting and wanted to see if anyone else saw this and what their thoughts were. Seems like a novel concept I suppose, but they have only tested them in 25 knots and 3 knots of current. So are they a good idea? Or they just a novelty?

    what is it?

So that's what it looks like inside....

    what is it?

It is not a Farr. No one builds Farr boats anymore that wants to win.

    what is it?

Bow looks a bit different. Might just be hard to see with the color and lighting. The molds were saved from Ran so that other owners could use them without raising the cost of a new build, so it's quite possible.

Holy crap, I didn't see that yet. Seems like a nonstarter.
  16. Seems like the new Bella has had some teething issues over the last year. Any details?

Believe you are correct on the experiment. With the 111 NA's here in the fall, it would make sense to get a 111.

Very much so. Use electric tape. Make sure your plug is in. In any breeze they will nose dive and get wet.

Hotrcsails.com out of Canada. However, since they are in Canada, there is going to be a significant delay due to the current circumstances. And yes factory sails are okay, I just hate the Mylar and quality control of the stock set isn't always there. For instance, my stock 95 sails were missing grommets.

That brings a question for everyone. What would you rather have, 1. Faster Upwind Speed, or 2. Faster Downwind speed? Then we will go further and say, 1. For Buoy Racing, 2. For Distance Racing. No need to discuss downwind distance races vs upwind distances races. We will leave it as an average of 50/50.
