      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Does anybody have any information on Raymarine Mirco-Talk™ Wireless Gateway
  2. It is always nice to hear what other people think. Of course I would like to have instruments on my yacht. It doesn’t rely make you better, it just make it easier sometimes. TWA, heading and boat speed are key to maximize your trim and to know if you sail up to target speed. I have raced a lot, both small yachts to Volvo ocean racers (not done the race though) But all my racing experience is with wired systems. On this yacht we have a mixed Raymarine system with booth wired and wireless components. The log an dst800 from Airmar works ok. But the wireless wind vane from Raymarine (tactick) I have mixed feelings about. I have to restart the system, slow update speed and so on, but for cruising that is ok. There could be problems to install a wired wind vane, we have to take the mast down, and get the wire into the mast, but I might ending up there anyway. Therefore I started to look for other solutions than Raymarine and I found gWind from Garmin (nexus). It would be nice to know how it works compared to Raymarine wireless. Is there any problem when mixing brands today. I know It used to be but if it is nmea 2000 it should be fine, right!
  3. I was afraid that I would get that answer. I have used tacktic on a cruiser before and for cruising it is fine but how is it for racing? Is the update frequency good enough. One thing I like with gWind is that it use nmea2000. But it might not be good enough for racing
  4. I have an Beneteau 45 yacht and I need to replace my wind transducer. I use the boat mainly for cruising, but if I am going to race is any of the two transduces any good? Which one is best, what’s your opinion?
  5. Excactly, im missing Mango? Has he left?
  6. Who has left Artimis. I looked at their homepage, and there are some people missing on the team page.
