      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Transpac 2017

Kudos to Comanche breaking the 1997 TP MultiHull Record as well as setting the TP Monohull Record. Epic stuff. Well done everyone involved on the first 4 boats Set new bars. Respect!
  2. Transpac 2017

Yes- They left them at the dock.
  3. Transpac 2017

What's up with Rio 100? Tracker has her down to 10 knots for awhile now. Was heading due south as well. Now back to a port tack heading but still slow.
  4. Transpac 2017

Maserati diving south - interesting. Comanche just truckin' along. Modern speeds of these boats just amazing in comparison to everyone else.
  5. Long Beach Harbor No More

Was out there Thursday. There is a huge crane and barge loaded with rocks on the east side of Queen's Gate. Looks like they are reinforcing things.
  6. "Dis is Sayula"

Saw the movie last Friday evening in Newport Beach. Very well done. I really liked how the story was presented by each crew member. A real inside and personal look into the incredible adventure.
  7. Ugly dodger collection

Ran across this on the interweb:
  8. My newest project

Bob, With all the carbon being used on the project, I am sure things are being isolated more than usual as part of the build process. Is there anything special being done that would not be done if the hull and deck was mainly fiberglass?
  9. My Wife HATES my Olson 30

Happy Wife = Happy Life Replace or add to the fleet a vessel she likes.
  10. Nothing YOU know about, perhaps. A ~45 year old Morgan 30 is not a fast boat by any meaningful standard. Super-maxi Comanche, a yacht so beamy she’s christened the Aircraft Carrier http://www.yachtingworld.com/yachts-and-gear/comanche-yacht-63102 I do not see the point you are trying to make. My point was that Tom knows letting his M30 heel over and rip is faster than shortening sail and sailing flat on anything other than going to windward. But you are obviously the expertologist here on this part of the thread! Carry on.
  11. Modern Mono-hulls like the VO65s, Comanche and Rambler 88 live life at 40+ degrees to go fast. Funny to see the expertoligists on this thread pontificate and criticize about nothing they know about.
  12. Took some gentle ribbing on FB from a North Sails Salesman on a photo I posted critical of my boat's heel angle last year. Just having fun on a day sail with friends. We had a great time!
  13. Tom is spot on and knows his boat. Respect. Sail your boat the best way you know how. As a youngin on the Spencer 62 Ragtime in the late 70's and early 80's we had a lot of guest experts on board over the years trying to reduce sail and sail her flat. Finally, one day a sailing mate of mine who had the most miles on her said just heel her over and let her rip to the pros. The increase in speed was dramatic.
  14. My newest project

How does it sound? Next he should make a CF case for it.
  15. Uglyboat Admiration Society Hang Out

I'll bet this beauty must heel 30 degrees on a beam reach in 20 knots. I think this kind of qualifies as a sailboat given its sail area.
