    Pac Cup 2018

Alessandra Day 6: Someone used the aft head but the tank was full. The treatment plant in the rudder compartment proceeded to spray fecal matter in a circular pattern all over the rudder post, quadrant, bearings and cables. I spent 2 hours this morning trying to address the rudder bearing issue -- in that compartment. So I'm covered in the crew's excrement. We had a water panic yesterday when the faucet ran dry. Had to pull up floor-boards this morning to figure out wtf is going on with the water. Turns out we have a full tank but somehow the autoclave refuses to stop pressurizing and the risk is we blow a hose right off the fitting and lose all our tank water. I have 75 gallons in separate bins intact, ready to go so not panicking. We finally have kites up this am and are rumbling along at 8-9 kts, so helm is better now than with JT/GS combo. Pray for us. Nope — when it all fell apart, my wife put a friends wedding on the calendar before I could find a new ride. So I am heading to Chicago for a Mac race.

That would be an interesting idea! Hand out class assignment and have a start every day at noon. Let each boat pick when they start. The current reason for staggering the starts is so the big boats the slow boat have more overlap in weather.

Well the Euro and GFS are disagreeing more and more, still too far out, but fun to take a look at.

    Worlds biggest doublehanded race?

2018 three bridge fiasco had 359 register— 28 were singlehanded. So 331 were doublehanded. With phrf ratings from -102(d class cat) to 273 (cal 20) it might be the largest rating spread out there as well.

    29er Practice spinaker

The RC's would not hold racing when we would use the 420 kite, most of the time they would leave a crash boat in the water for us just in case. We would bash up wind for 30 minutes, put up the kite for 10 and do it all over again.

    29er Practice spinaker

We ran three sets of sails back in the day when we were campaigning laser II. We had a big regatta set, a local racing set and a practice set, we also kept a 420 kite (shy kite) for when it was blowing dogs. We would use our race set the practice before a regatta so we could get them dialed in. Note that laser II sails were absolutel shit. We bought a new suit of sails every year and rotated them all down.

    J 121

J/125 -12 J/125 with code 0 that has too small a mid girth -18 Melges 32 27 J/44 21 It will be interesting to see what a J 121 will get rated at in SF. Is there an ORR rating for the 121 in the N2B race?

    J 121

The 125 I race on in San Francisco rates -18. We give a turboed schock 40 6 seconds. Orr treats us better.
