    Sailing today

Took the wife out sailing today, she loved it. She is still learning, she went to sailing camp this summer. Photo to make it real, took my dad’s boat out it’s a little more forgiving than the race boats I sail on.

    Sailing today

She got a ring on the finger, great wife. For the 2016 Pac cup, I left her at home with a 3 month old and a 23 month old.

I have seen a few "holding tanks" that had a pipe going straight through to a discharge. Not uncommon to find on old boats.
  5. Here is the bag we have it stayed dry.
  6. They sell a bag holder that keeps the water off of them. Get it it works well, we used one on the moore 24 in Pac cup without issue. It did not inflate during that trip because of the bag holder. Let me say it was a wet trip.

what's your top boatspeed in a J boat?

Here we are at a smooth 24 knots with the a2.5 up. TWS was only 26 knots. We had a kiteboarder 100 feet off the bow with eyes about as big as pumpkins.

    Full Main + HW Jib?

I have used both a reefable #1 and #3. The #1 just had a second higher clew this made a jib top. The 3 had both a second clew and tack. We went to the high clew first, making a blast teacher and then to the second tack to be a heavy weather jib for the offshore rules.

Jib up with assym on sportboat?

So we take it down with the #1 and #2, around the cans when it’s #3 weather we leave it up. Offshore we set a spin staysail in anything over 14 knots tws. Bbs the downwind legs were short this year with the flood. So with that said on a 15 minuet run we did not want to spend 2 minuet fucking around with a #3 jib. Your results may vary.

Are Mount Gay Rum Hats Cool?

Love the hats, I wear them oldest to newest. Current hat is 2000 Pac cup, when I loose it I move to the next one.

Jib up with assym on sportboat?

With the #3 we did not want to send the bow guys to the bow and the pit to the pit. We wanted full hike, as we were trying to pass the timeshaver, and we did before the bottom mark of that leg.
  14. Small issue — deck stepped mast.
  15. Nothing up there is strong enough. Build a bridal from the primary winches. Lots of chafe gear.

    J/111 Goes Sailing...

Question -- Why in all of these heavy air videos is everyone sailing with the vang on so tight? On the 125 we basically run with no vang on 90% of the time, inshore we only put a little on to help in jibes otherwise its off. This opens up the top of the main and lets you get the main sheet in more. With the main trimmed in more the slot between the kite and the main is wide open, this is our planing set up. We use the main trim to keep the helm honest and low, if we are sailing too high we bring on more main and head down to get back to 6 to 8 degrees of heel. We always sail with some heel, the boat never is flat and never rocks to weather once we can plan.

    Pac Cup 2018

Tweener is a r1 or something like that they don’t have the mid-girth to measure as a spin so they were measured as a jib. Orr changed the rule in March and NorCal phrf did not have time to adapt.

    Pac Cup 2018

Alessandra Day 6: Someone used the aft head but the tank was full. The treatment plant in the rudder compartment proceeded to spray fecal matter in a circular pattern all over the rudder post, quadrant, bearings and cables. I spent 2 hours this morning trying to address the rudder bearing issue -- in that compartment. So I'm covered in the crew's excrement. We had a water panic yesterday when the faucet ran dry. Had to pull up floor-boards this morning to figure out wtf is going on with the water. Turns out we have a full tank but somehow the autoclave refuses to stop pressurizing and the risk is we blow a hose right off the fitting and lose all our tank water. I have 75 gallons in separate bins intact, ready to go so not panicking. We finally have kites up this am and are rumbling along at 8-9 kts, so helm is better now than with JT/GS combo. Pray for us. G
