    Trump’s Taxes

Ivanka can got to jail for this. As an officer of the trump org, she can't get consulting fees for projects she was working on.
  2. The plan was to take delivery in France on March 1st, cruise up north and then cross the Atlantic to Barbados after hurricane season. But it doesn’t look like US citizens will be allowed in Europe any time soon. After reading an article about travel restrictions between Germany and Luxembourg, it looks like the US needs to get the new cases per week down to 50/100,000 for the travel ban to be lifted. So (331,076,384 x 50)/(100,000 x 7)= 23,648.3 daily cases Cases reported July 14 - 65,594 cases or 277% and July 15 – 71,670 or 303% This will be interesting to track on a weekly basis.

    Nice Work Texas! (...well...) Discuss.

If Texas' # of deaths were proportional to their population, 11,363 would still be alive That # would be lower than 11k if the USA had not blown the curve with an extra 155k dead
  5. For the Pogo 36, it is 30% to start, 30% a month in, 30% when they join the hull and deck about 45 days later then 10% at delivery.

I don't know if they did it a Clemson but on a call with major donors, the box holders expected to get their full allotment of tickets to their boxes. Thanks to all the people who opted out, we picked up 2 more bringing our total to 10 out of the normal 24. Will post photos if I go to a game.

  10. Found this in the Washington Post updates U.S. pleasure boats are ignoring Canada’s border closure, frustrated boaters say Earlier this summer, Bill Wilson’s friends began telling him they’d spotted boats with American flags cruising through the pristine waters around British Columbia’s Vancouver Island. With its rugged, unspoiled coastline, the island’s inner passage is a dream trip for many recreational boaters, particularly those in nearby Seattle. And although the alarming rate of coronavirus infections in the United States had prompted Canada to close its borders, some boaters were showing up anyway. Wilson, who heads a coalition of the region’s yacht clubs, sent a letter to all 10,000 members and asked them to let him know if they saw U.S. pleasure boats. Soon, he told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., he was receiving two or three emails a day. Given the increasingly dire state of the U.S. outbreak — which has recently worsened in Washington state — and British Columbia’s success at containing the virus’s spread, Canadian boaters were not thrilled to see their U.S. counterparts showing up at marinas and staying for days. A group of frustrated retirees began monitoring MarineTraffic, a website that tracks commercial ships and large private yachts. Over a month, they spotted roughly 100 American-flagged pleasure boats that appeared to be flagrantly disregarding the border shutdown, the Vancouver Sun reported. Under the “Alaska loophole,” Americans are allowed to travel through Canada if they’re returning to Alaska. But many Canadians believe that exception is being abused. “A lot of these boats appear to be crossing the border and then taking their time and enjoying cruising in Canadian waters,” Wilson told the CBC, noting that one cleared customs and headed north, only to be found moored in a scenic spot off the east coast of Vancouver Island two weeks later. “That doesn’t sound to me like going to Alaska,” he said.

Alabama reported 500 new cases this week and the positivity went from an initial of 1% to 29%. Bars closed for 2 weeks and university police will be monitoring off campus apartments for parties. On the bright side, they are allowing 20% capacity for football games but no tailgating.

    Okay, this seems unfair

You won't see a federal response until after landfall and the damage is done. Right now local feds have buttoned up and moved to Level Alpha (tracking local employees, filling generator tanks, prepping water and MRE's) Each agency has a Incident Command Center that is monitoring the storm and planning for the Field Incident Response. By now they have done a tabletop response to figure out who to deploy and where. The biggest problem this year is deploying the teams during a pandemic. On the positive side, most of the people involved in the response have been doing it for years.

  16. Washington Post Opinion by David Von Drehle, Columnist August 11, 2020 at 3:36 p.m. EDT President Trump is searching the nation for the best venue in which to be re-crowned as Republican candidate for the highest office in the land. His plan to accept the nomination in Charlotte was quashed by health officials. Jacksonville, Fla., offered to welcome a big crowd of mask-free Trump fans — but then the pandemic walloped the Sunshine State. He might stay home and deliver the speech from his backyard, also known as the South Lawn. But recent reports suggest he’s thinking about a certain battlefield in a place called Gettysburg.… “Four score and seven years ago. Not everyone knows a score. People ask me, they say, ‘What’s a score?’ Fauci the other day. What’s a score? Not everyone knows. The score is the best it’s ever been. Under Trump, 87. Under Obama, not so much. “Eighty-seven tremendous, tremendous years ago — and some years that were not so great, frankly — our fathers brought forth; also the mothers, the great suburban mothers. Biden wants to take away their dream. Our fathers and our mothers brought forth a new nation. How they did it: not so good. Not so perfect. A lot of people got hurt. Some were bad people, but a lot of them were good. The king of England, not everyone agrees he was so bad, but now they have a queen. Very few people know this. “Someone told me Thomas Jefferson ate by himself at the White House and was the smartest one ever. I don’t think so. I don’t think so. I frankly think my IQ — people tell me it is tremendous. The doctors see and they can’t believe it. They say, ‘Mr. President, this is unbelievable!’ It’s called a ‘cognitive test.’ Biden’s afraid to take it. Sleepy Joe. “My people, the best people, they tell me Thomas Jefferson made a good deal when he bought Louisiana, the great state of Louisiana, for 3 cents an acre. I say he must have read my book. “Our fathers and mothers believed in liberty and the prop . . . uh . . . the prop . . . a . . . ma . . . gician that all men are created equal. The ladies, not so much. Melania is a 10. Hillary? Like I said, not so much. Merkel? Not so much. “Now we are met on a battlefield where, frankly, there were very fine people on both sides. Some of them got killed. A lot of them, but not all. Obama would have let all of them get killed. I happen to prefer soldiers who don’t get killed. “When I was making America greater than it has ever been — and I will do it again; only I can fix it after the kung flu, they call it the co-ro-na-virus, they call it covid, since when does a disease have so many names? Once it washes through, it’s going to wash through sooner or later and I happen to think sooner. It’s called testing. The United States does it better than anybody and guess what? More cases. The fake news — those people right over there, I call them the fake news — they don’t want you to know this. Only I can bring us back to where we were before China. “I look around at this great, beautiful, tremendous battlefield with the cemetery full of people who gave what I like to call the last, full measure of devotion. Think about it: full measure. Not taking a knee against our great flag. Not antifa. It’s more devotion than at any time ever in the history of our country. And I can do it again. “I’ll get up there and put my hand on a big, beautiful Bible. I love the Bible. I love God. Biden will do away with God. Biden will take away the Bible. It’s sad. But folks, they are nasty, nasty people. I will bring us together like you’ve never seen. “So let us highly resolve that government of the people, the very fine people — not the people over there, the fake news. They said Russia, Russia, Russia. A hoax. The greatest witch hunt in history. No one has ever been tougher on Russia than me. Abraham Lincoln, Honest Abe. Very few people know he was called that. Lincoln was beautifully tough on Russia. But only sometimes. No one has been tougher than me. “Read the books! Read the manuals! I talk to my generals — some very fine, very tough generals. They tell me they’ve never seen anything like it. Before we came in, the United States was perishing from the earth. Perishing. It means, like, dead. That’s what Biden wants. People call him Sleepy Joe. Scary Joe. Joe Biden. He is Not. All. There. Not all there. “Apparently Lincoln also gave a speech here, but people tell me mine is much better. Lincoln’s ratings were terrible. It’s called winning, folks. A simple thing called winning.”

I agree with you that things will not be getting better in the US anytime soon with what we have seen about schools this week. The whole point of this is just to track it and see where the numbers go. I'm not pinning my hopes on any short term change but they affect my ease of travel to France and the exchange rate which has gone from 1.11 to 1.18 in a month. Lucky for me that MSFT is up 36% this year.

Clemson's booster group, IPTAY, has asked donors not to request refunds this year as seating in the stadium will be limited. In the past, your donation was tied to the number of tickets you could buy and 80% was tax deductible. If you had tickets on the 50, the min donation was 100 for two tickets. But then they reseated the stadium and added a seat premium to the tickets (Min donation for a 50 yard line ticket was $700/ticket) Plus they took the tax break away in 2017 Looks like they might need to pare down their administrative cost which are currently at 21% of revenue. Personally, they can keep my donation and apply my season tickets costs to next year if there are on fans allowed.

    Rudders and roundup

But there's no reefing on an Etchells. All you can do is tighten the uppers and lowers, shorten the fore stay, crank on some back stay, cunningham, out hual, and add vang to flatten the hell out of the main. Then you have to ease the traveler and main in the gusts. Of course this assumes you set up the mast step correctly.

Shaggy, My plan is to spend a week in the area before heading north. That would give me time with Structures, time for them to fix anything, time to outfit the galley etc before heading north. It’s still a long way off but as I get closer, I’ll start exploring all the options such as quarantine or shipping. The good thing is I retire in Dec, so I’ll have plenty of time to figure it out. If they would only let me quarantine in the Alps, with the option of outside exercise. I’d even be willing to use skins and earn my turns. Steve

COVID vs Pogo 36 delivery (I’m Fucked)

The whole intent of the thread is to compare where the US stands vs the level I think will be acceptable for France and the EU to open up for US tourists. As a US citizen, I cannot travel to France right now. The closest I could get is Albania, Croatia, Serbia, or Turkey. Delivery is March 2021 and the Atlantic crossing would be after hurricane season in 2021. I'm just complaining because I want to maximize the time I get to spend in Europe and not leave it on the hard for six months. I'd also like to see the trend start to go down by the time they start building it in October.
