      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

The New Year resolution of Brother Spithill suggests he agrees with Cayard.

Do I detect a bit of thread drift? Should we start a new thread? Seahawks Anarchy? What would Stingray's cat think about it?

Going forward with the impactful visioning and benchmarks. Puke!

Lake Hauraki?? Why not? I will not insult you with epithets. However, you had better try and keep up. Just 5 minutes ago, TNZ was being criticized for sailing in a lake! The implication was "Go out in OR-type conditions and you too will join the pitchpole club". That was until a taniwha arranged a tornado. And now California lake-complainers have shut up. With Christmas in the offing, it could be a good thing.

You will be happy to know that, with the exception of passing through US airports (and the occasional dtrop-in on 2nd hand book shops - eg. Powells - and used boat-bit places) I am already following your elegant instructions. I can assure you it ain't just me. These days many, many people living "somewhere else" put a lot of energy into avoiding the US of A. Best to leave the Excited States to erudite souls who think they inhabit the centre of the universe.

Not really! Says nothing! The only new bit is the fact TH is mates with Jobson. And they have talked through the situation. In fact, this is a very lazy (and uninteresting) bit of journalism. Would be interesting to hear what KJ thinks.

Whoops ... not set to go RTW. Instead, across the Excited States.

Bit off topic ... although has a SF angle. Remember those mates of Ernesto's intending to fly a solar powered aircraft around the world? Solar impulse. Piccard and the other bloke. Did their work next to Alinghi. They are set to go. And hope to fly over Kittyhawk. Will be worth watching.

Whoa! This reminds me of the speedway in my home town. Only 4 entries. But a ton of races. Same blokes! Over and over. Only 4 boats in the AC )OR, AR, TNZ, LR) But "up to" 55 days of racing. Ernesto must be impressed. But how many times a day can you milk the same cow?

Oh baby jesus ... world-class ... said twice. Does this guy have the slightest clue concerning the troubled (and idiotic) nature of this term? However it is not as bizarre as "lifestyle options" associated with the America's Cup. On the other hand, with all those "lifestyle blocks" next to NZ cities, I had better shut up.

no mention from Barclay of this at today's AC partner meeting. DiD other USS get some notification of this? nice update from the AC community, thanks. All words! And no visible benefits. Other than the right to watch the events. Which you and I already have!

Off topic .... but with these Vendee boats now routinely breaking the 500 nm a day mark (and thus going almost as fast as a Torben Grael + crew VOR70) it looks like the under-crewed mono might still have a future. And raises doubts about the drama of having a Bruce Farr one-design VOR 65 footer. The speed gains are all amazing (inc. Paul Larsen). But we sort of expect multis to go fast. So, in significant ways, the monos are dressed to impress.

Apart from more restraining lines, what can be done? This could be Larry's secret weapon. During adverse SF weather (in the LVC), LE keeps his own stuff locked inside. While challengers face the daily challenge of fighting to get the wing up.

In the midst of boat engine traumas I got to know a couple of blokes in a Ford wrecking yard near here. Bought some heads and other things. Was going out the door and noticed a pair of polished aluminiun rocker covers. With flames and "Ford Racing" engraved on the top. Fit a 302 and 351 (Windsor) head. Were being sold on consignment on behalf of "Rory" who wanted $100 for the pair. I offered $50 but Mr. Nice Guy said they belonged to Rory, not him. No bargaining! This is not China. Just a few days earlier, I had bought chrome-plated (but rust-vulnerable) tin rocker covers. More for a joke than anything else. And to impress my brother. Anyway, I will sooon remove the chrome and put on the Ford Racing covers. If you saw my fairly bashed-up workboat cum tug, you would see the humour of having flash OTT (redneck) rocker covers. Maybe you need them more than me? They definitely fit the 302. How about $500? Each!
