      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

    They're all for sale
  3. Rock n Roll Boat Names

    Fluff's Travels
  4. Best boat for light air lake sailing

The S2 7.9 is a bit sticky in light air. We sail against a Wavelength 24 and an Olson 25 and they move much better in the light. Neither of them are great with 3 on board though, probably need at least 4 to sail well.
  5. Gulf of maine scuttlebut

Tony did a great job for me, and he drove to Boothbay. Mark

Neat to hear that Steve Purdy on Trader is still at it! Same Trader, different Steve. The next generation has stepped up.

That sounds like a great series. CYC would definitely get behind that style of racing.

During the NE Harbor race we were discussing the benefits of moving the Monhegan to a calendar slot that had a historical trend of better wind. It was either that or coming up with a new low-key distance race for the early fall.

NE Harbor race did run and while the wind was a bit light, it was still a good time. Low-key organization, but looking at the fleet size, that's just fine. My thoughts are that this time of year is a good one for distance racing in the Gulf of Maine seeing as the wind should be more reliable than in early August. I really hope the race will run in 2009. Results are here eventually.

No offense to the fine folks at PYC, but as a CYC member I'd much prefer to have my local fleet be GMORA rather than another area club. For that reason alone, they do provide value.

Thanks for the info. The word I got from Sailmaine is that the series starts on Oct. 28 and runs until the last Sunday in Dec. Team slots may still be available.

So, is there any organized (read: for any value of organized) frostbiting in Casco Bay? I know there used to be a group at PYS on the Ynglings.

Saw the boat out last Sunday. Looks nice and seems to move along well. As noted, hope it comes with a wetsuit and a good knife to cut away the lobster pots.

How did the H33 like the breeze? Saw you it heading down to the tugboat muster today and thought it looked pretty nice. However, some of the wavelength pics show some pretty healthy scallops in the jib.
