      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. What new AC 36 Class boat would you like ?

How about another full on DoG challenge, with what we know now, it would look different and be pretty exciting!
  2. Artemis Penalty Fair or Shit?

I thought it was refreshing to admit their mistake. Easier for all the competitors to take the high road now that they admitted their mistake.
  3. Artemis Penalty Fair or Shit?

AC rule 18.3 sounds to me like NZL needed to round the mark and could not have stayed on starboard, it wasn't an option. 18.3 Tacking or Gybing When an inside overlapped right-of-way yacht must tack or gybe at a mark to sail her proper course, until she tacks or gybes she shall sail no farther from the mark than needed to sail that course. So NZL couldn't take Artemis beyond the mark. NZL realized Artemis was ahead and to leeward, the jibe made them the windward boat and decided to crash down to keep clear of the leeward boat...judges didn't see it right, or weren't thinking correctly. If I were in charge of the AC rules, I'd make circle at the leeward marks bigger, and allow a team to decline a penalty and have an off the water protest appeal, where they would have to risk being DSQ if they lose the appeal. That would have given Artemis a chance and the judges an opportunity to take a closer look without changing the outcome on the water.
  4. Artemis Penalty Fair or Shit?

But check NZLs wing, in that same shot #3 where they enter the circle, they are no longer on starboard tack, they've already jibed.
  5. dennis conner

Gone out of my way to meet the man three times that I can think of...never met him. Now I don't think I want to anymore.
  6. Radio controlled sailing

Spring has arrived in New England...
  7. lucky number

    "Watch this jibe...Hold my beer."
  8. Wanna Play Kite Boat?!

You're on the same track I was thinking, but now add some L shapped daggerboards to add daytime foiling capability! That was my thought.
  9. Vestas Sailrocket

Paul, Cracked open a special bottle after hearing about the latest run. I would hope your achievement gets special attention from Hollywood, Rolex, and Her Majesty. Now continue the steady scientific step by step method to 70! Don't lose that taste for those triple rum and cokes in pint glasses. Like I've been saying since VS1...Stay safe, and Go go go go go baby GO!
  10. Vestas Sailrocket

So totally thrilled for you. Going to take a shot at the mile? Almost suspect you need the extra to hit top speed.
  11. BMW

Aw, shit....my cell phone got wet!
  12. DC Designs

Kudos on the great job on resurrecting the Canoesletter, and the website!
