      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Depends. If they go with double life lines, they go with 84. Single and they use 90.

Come now, I'm not one to complain about ratings, cause life's too short, and I'm not complaining about Maudelayne's (honest to goodness). But that argument really doesn't cut it. Last year in Division 4 with the lower rating the boat was a bit inconsistent (at least results-wise), but had plenty of success. This year she gets an improved rating, moves down a division, and walks away with straight bullets for the season (save one race). I mean, the 105s actually are giving you time, which is absurd. Moreover, the races weren't close Wes. I haven't done the math, but I suspect that even with last year's 93 rating, the boat would have had the same results. Isn't that the quintessential example of a sweetheart rating? I'm just out there to have fun and enjoy the competition, so I really don't care if you're winning Can One on corrected time, and more power to the skipper for improving his situation, but let's not pretend that something isn't askew with her rating. In terms of your specific question, I can tell you our boat is set up and prepped very well. Our driver just sucks. And John, I'll beat you to it -- after some anonymous inquiries this season, the PHRF committee adjusted the J80 rating, and they did so mid-season, but I think you'll be surprised at what they did. They moved the ODR rating up to 129, and kept a PHRF J80 with up to a 135 genny at 126. They hammered the PHRF boat for the non-spinn rating (from 135 to 129), but whatever.

even slower than a J105...mmmmm That's the biggest thing the leaps off the page at me. No chance a 105 is keeping up with her. Wes, not joking or busting your chops (seriously), but the rest of the division just isn't competitive with you guys. It's not like you're eeking out wins each week. The races aren't even close. Isn't that kind of boring after a while?

More like we're both idiots. We started 10 minutes late, and Rosie sailed the wrong course. We could've been using 30hp outboards and still would've taken a week and a day to finish.

Yup, we still are. Almost at the windward mark, too!
