Update on the Europa Cup Videos We have been given permission from VRSport.tv to upload the videos to our own Vimeo / Facebook pages. I will begin uploading these later this week. I also have the Pwllheli worlds video to upload. Will post links here when done. I think some of this years footage is the best footage of international canoe sailing I've seen.

All the videos are available to watch Free for 7 days from when they are uploaded to www.vrsport.tv after this time you will need to subscribe to watch them. There are now videos from three days of racing and a lay day video featuring a tech talk about the evolution of the Morrison designs. The last sailing video is due to go up tomorrow and I believe there will be another video comparing the String theory, Dragonfly and Morrison designs. This is a bit different to how vrsport used to run, But it does mean that as a class association we no longer have to pay them quite as much money to come and film our events. Of course they would be more willing to spend their own money to come and film us if we can generate them more subscribers.

So is it Ok to use carbon rod on a boat where you let the shrouds off downwind and there is no easy way to stop the boom from hitting the shrouds on gybes?

I needed to add lowers to my mast which has the goose neck on the stump as the bottom of the mast was panting in gusts. if you initially go without them have a plan where you can add them on latter.

Nope too drunk for that, want to measure something, best turn up yourself. next year big champs will be Berlin for euros and as yet tbc is Plymouth for UK Nat's. Next worlds aus but I understand there is a difference of opinion over venu. I hope the venu with cheaper accommodation will win as that will decide the fleet size.

I think your idea was tried by the current owner of "Monkey" Not sure that he has kept it on the boat much longer. You also lack tuning ability, whilst not essential when underway you do need to get the jib leach tension correct for the wind strength. I suspect that the future will be no jib boom with a set up such as what Dave Clark describes.

I don't think that will work as the forces will deflect the forestay and mess up your jib luff

Well I will go with the 2.5mm rod, I will leave the swedging to the boys at the local riggers. Apparently there is a special technique that they are a bit hush about, but they have a great reputation. Harken Ha300 1" wire blocks should be strong enough to run the high load end of the shroud adjustment. Need to get the rig up to measure the fore triangle so I can pass all the measurements on to Frank Rowsell to make the sails. His lead time will more than likely dictate when I launch. Chris H

What diameter rod rigging are people using? Will 2.5mm diameter be man enough?

The New C12 seats have the Stahl style buttock moldings whilst retaining the Classic British wedge shape.

The one hanging off the back of monkey is also small. Guess size really doesn't matter and its all in the way you wiggle it. ;-)

Monkey is currently in my shed with a few minor repairs and one last attempt at finding a small leak that seams to suck in a little water in windy weather. I should be back on the water Sunday or Monday, then it will be sailing at least every other day until I head out to Travemunde a week before the regatta starts for final training at the venue. Meanwhile I found the entry lists on the Travemunde website, although they have mixed AC's in with IC's. IC / AC ICOD So we have 33 boats from 5 nations, 7 AC's 14 ICOD's and 12 New rules IC.
