      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

      Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

    Translation of Verdiers comments at the end of the video-made relatively shortly before they left Hawaii: "We are here to test the rudders that tends to stall, we have the phenomenon since the boat exists, and so we try to make rudders that are stronger and stiffer, and of course we try to understand why. And it is a complex situation because there is an interference between the main hull rudder and the leeward ama one and so we have made revised drawings for the next season so that the boat can be more controllable and the helm more enjoyable to steer. It is a bit intrinsic to all flying boats as the configurations are quite different for the various flight heights, it would be necessary to change the setting for each condition. If we have more control, we can go faster and it is less dangerous. One of the big works we will do is to make sure the rudder gets up, and that at least when it hits a floating object we do not completely lose the structure of the boat and the control and all that. We will improve anyway."

    This is what the Team said: 13,000 miles, 24,000 kilometres non-stop: this is an uncommonly long route for a 70-foot multihull such as Maserati Multi70. To minimise the risk of damage, instead of sailing in foiling mode the boat will be set up in MOD configuration – although the work to develop the boat’s foiling dagger boards continues with the support of the eminent high-performance yacht designer, Guillaume Verdier.

    Team Maserati: MASERATI MULTI70 SET SAIL TO CONQUER THE RECORD ON THE HONG KONG-LONDON ROUTEJanuary 18, 2018The trimaran Maserati Multi70 left Hong Kong crossing the starting line positioned between the Tai Long Pai and Nga Ying Pal lights, at the exit of the Tathoong canal, at 10: 43′ 23” UTC (18:43 in China, 11:43 in Italy). To beat the record Giovanni Soldini and the crew of the trimaran – Guido Broggi, Oliver Herrera Perez, Alex Pella and Sébastien Audigane – have to complete the course and cross the finish line under the Queen Elizabeth II bridge over the Thames before the 1st of March at 8: 9′ 47” UTC.

    Fire Arrow Ama foil with wash-in(not wash-out) utilizing iFLAP : This helps the foil work well throughout the speed range especially with low speed takeoff and allows the foil to work, in some respects, like a wand controlled foil but with no moving parts...... See pictures "A" and "B" below that represent two very different load and speed conditions-a perfect illustration of the automatic altitude control of this foil. Furthermore, in light and medium conditions the foils have never needed adjustment after being initially set up.

    It won't be a lead "plug" and won't compress air. It will only move about 4 mph which is 5.86' per second. I've considered a radio controlled version with the motor, battery and receiver in with the ballast. But for now it takes up too much room. I'm doing a completely independent model version where the Trapeze Power Ballast System has its own separate receiver and battery making it completely independent of the "normal" boat receiver and battery. Both use the same transmitter.
  9. I never "declared" that because the published TNZ renders show the exact opposite. What I said was that it ought to be possible to do a less expensive, easier to sail monofoiler that would be nearly as fast as the War of the Worlds creatures...........

    Thanks, Steve- thanks for the comments. With models you have to know what you can and can't scale up accurately, that's for sure. The structural and safety requirements of the wing have been considered long ago and continue to be looked at very carefully. The wing retaining system is very strong with back-up. The Crossbow fl has much more freeboard than the IC but wave impacts have been considered from day one- thanks in part to Julian Bethwaite and others including you. The wing rotates for trailering or stowage-see 18' Trapwing model pix below. This comment I disagree with emphatically: "Regardless of my previous post, which ignored the sliding of the wing, I understand what you are trying to do, but I believe there are problems to which you either don't accept, refuse to recognize, or simply deny are problems." The only reason there is to post about this project on SA is to try to learn as much as I can amid the overflowing horseshit that is part of this experience. I wouldn't waste my time if I didn't think the benefits outweigh the crap. -------------------------------------------------- Fastyachts comments have mostly been asinine-not worth a shit as best I can tell........If he acts professionally as he does anonymously I pity his clients.
